Well his brother and Mike Iupati were drafted 2 spots after in there respective drafts. Isnt much of a diffrence there. But Iupati and his brother are.both damn good olineman

one thing il say, when i went to camp this summer and saw pouncey he was by far the biggest o-lineman i saw out there, he is bigger than jake long for crying out loud. This dude is going to be pancaking anyone in his way.

pff also ratede joe berger quite high a while back. still dont agree with the pick but time will tell, still say he is a left guard pff is pretty bogus bit interesting

Branden Albert was drafted 15th overall by the Chefs (great googley moogley) in 2008 after starting at guard for Virginia (next to D'brickashaw Ferguson, then Eugene Monroe at tackle). The Chefs moved him to tackle (although with the signing of Jared Gaither a move back to LG may be in his future), but he was an interior lineman in college. He was the highest guard taken in the NFL draft since Chris Naeole went 10th overall to the Saints in 1997.

thats true but the chiefs drafted albert to play left tackle...so i don't see how he could count here...teams use top 10 picks or top 15 picks every year on guys they envision at left tackle...interior oline...not so much

brandon marshall, jake long, dan carpenter (usually), reggie bush - studs. mike pouncey, daniel thomas - perhaps future studs. davone bess, brian hartline, richie incognito, anthony fasano - solid players. clyde gates - raw with plenty of potential and upside. the future on offense looks bright. all players acquired by this regime.

And yet they still struggle to score TDs.

b/t albert also played some left tackle at uva when eugene monroe got hurt...and filled in nicely...so the chiefs had some left tackle tape of his to review...anyways i always envisioned albert as a pro guard

you had said interior lineman, albert was an interior lineman at the time of the draft. anything the chefs wanted to do with him was purely speculation/projection on their part. that's why i mentioned him.

I agree, Albert was a G/T prospect, I would throw him on the list . . . but it still that doesn't get away from the point that if you draft an interior OL in the top 15 . . . he damn well better be a special player on the inside.

he worked out at tackle during the predraft process...people were enamored with his length and athleticism...especially the chiefs...and like i said he played more than interior oline in college and was drafted to play tackle...not interior oline...where he was drafted should not count

And Pouncey is up to now, so point is moot... for now anyways...

so danny watkins who played left tackle at baylor but drafted as a pro guard in philly should count as a first round tackle??? i don't think so

Brandon Albert went that high because he was projected at T. What he's going to play in the pros is all that's relevant to draft position.

I'm glad Pouncey is getting some credit. There was huge push by the interior on those Thomas runs. I obviously think the pick was a little absurd, but I'm glad to see him acclimating so quickly. Hope he keeps it up.
