Good news on Mike Pouncy via PFF

And Pouncey is up to now, so point is moot... for now anyways...

I was going to do a stock report thread this week . . . and the 2 guys on the "stock up" were Pouncey and Thomas . . . I was very impressed at his work against Houston. We all knew he would immediately be one of the most athletic guards in the game from when he was drafted . . . he showed some power as well.

The only reason I wanted him at LG is because I think we have better options at Center, than we have at LG. Incognito at LG is a fail, he needs to be moved to Center or RG . . . and for the love of god I'd much rather see Carey at RT than Colombo. Still the most head scratching decision of the year IMO.

waiting for charles clay and gates now.

puncey has great technique and power. Legs and feet very good. Saw that in the draft videos.

i dont care what position is drafted wherever. If they are probowl type material, then you draft them all things considered. If Mangold were redrafted based on what we know now, he would have gone much higher.

Brandon Albert went that high because he was projected at T. What he's going to play in the pros is all that's relevant to draft position.

I'm glad Pouncey is getting some credit. There was huge push by the interior on those Thomas runs. I obviously think the pick was a little absurd, but I'm glad to see him acclimating so quickly. Hope he keeps it up.

i see erin andrews rear end gets it...thank you

so danny watkins who played left tackle at baylor but drafted as a pro guard in philly should count as a first round tackle??? i don't think so

It depends how u look at it. Either way, Brandon Albert was a guy who was drafted higher because A. He looked great in the predraft process at OT B. If he couldn't cut it as a LT, you have the best OG prospect in the draft as a consolation prize. He would have gotten drafted in the first round as a guard, but not sure if KC takes him as a "guard only" prospect . . . probably not.

Danny Watkins was a guard, who could pinch at tackle in the pros . . . Danny Watkins wasn't even a top 5 guy at OT.

not to mention who plays the nose in houston...whoever it is i don;t think he's very highly thought of...pouncey needs strength and better technique in short yardage and goalline...he's a good player no doubt but i expect my 15th pick to be good...end of story

I do agree about that, if there is anyway to shuffle it so that Columbo doesnt see the field, just do it! But on the other hand, if your long term plan is to have the kid at center, it makes sense to let him play there from the get go. But Im not sure why Ireland and Sparano are thinking long term right now.. In their situation, I'd be all for lets do what made sense yesterday...

albert was a late 1st rounder until he started getting left tackle love in the predraft process...his stock shot up as a result of being projected at left tackle...how a guy who gets drafted that high which isn't high for a left tackle to be drafted given the premium on the position can be considered in a highest drafted interior line player discussion when he was drafted to play again left damn tackle and only went that high because of it is beyond me...makes zero sense

He played very well most of the game. He struggled late against 92-E.Mitchell, their *other* NT, missing badly on three blocks.

I like his progress, but he's still a rookie. He hasn't played perfect, but so far it's looking like a very solid pick. My only regret is that the regime seems to miss on later prospects, forcing us to draft lineman early.

Well to be fair, the only reason Jerry hasnt worked out is Jerry himself, you cant predict guys going beserk eating everything on their path after they sign their contract...

That idea was thrown out the window when Murtha decided to take the season off. Which is what I think the plan was, fill in for Long then get kicked over to the right side.

That's Inez Sainz.

I didn't love the Pouncey pick,but that doesn't mean it wasn't neccessary....
