Grade Hickeys first draft and why?

A+. Because "They" not only Hickey as a "Team" visited, scouted and liked everyone on their board. Drafted as a consensus from what we hear anyways, and filled need positions. The players may all be failures or future pro bowlers, so after time passes we can grade the players.

First off, i don't base it on anything after the 4th and probably only the 3rd. Anything after is really for developmental players and I typically don't know anything about them, or in this case, the schools they play for.

I don't want starters in the 1st round, I want potential stars; potential game-breakers. I feel a good GM can find starters, particularly at RT and OG (and C of course) from in the late second and on. I have no doubt he'll be a starter, and drafted that high, it will be a serious disappointment if he isn't a pro bowler. I just feel that the first should be used to grab those players that can make a team a championship contender. Star playmakers do that. But hey, we have 3 1st rounders on the line now, so at least there is no excuse. Time for Tannehill to put up or shut up. The only reason it's not lower is because there is limited bust potential, or at least there ****ing better be. I don't want to spend another 1st on a RT...well, ever again.

Landry moves this to a C. Love the pick. He's not a #1 or anything (those are usually found in the 1st), but he has a higher ceiling than Gibson or Hartline.

I like Billy Turner. I think he will be a good starter for years. It goes back to my statement that these guys can be found later on (Moses is another example). However, I do not like ponying up a 3rd and 4th for him (where he was picked and the pick it took to get there), especially in a rare draft in which you still have a good chance of finding immediate contributors in the 4th.

Okay, I'll bump it up to a C+ because I do like what I've seen from Tripp. The guy is probably already better than Wheeler.

"C" If it looked like this I would have gave Hickey an "A"

1. #27 James. (Saints) RT ~picked up a 3rd. True RT.

2. #50 Hill or Hyde RB ~More of a need than WR. Power Back.

3. #81 G. Jackson G ~2 season didn't give up 1 sack in SEC.

3. #91 C. Gillmore TE ~Great Blocker and pass protector.

4. #116 K. McGill CB ~Rare size with extremely long arms.

5. #155 L. Barrows OLB/MLB ~Highly respected and hardworking team captain.

6. #190 M. Hazel WR ~Can create after the catch and make the first defender miss.

7. #234 J. Janis WR ~A Division II standout with rare measurables and production.

Soooo...you essentially give yourself an "A" based off of hindsight and personal player evaluation...you don't see how dumb that sounds...

I would have given him an A if he moved up to the first overall pick and got us JOHNNYYY!!!!

HAHA, hell yes! JK, What I meant was if Hickey made the deal with Saints which we all know the Saints wanted too, All the players I listed, I'm almost 99.9% sure they all would of been there... #19 and the Saints excepted #20.. Come on man!

There are always players we love....I wanted moncrief over Landry, but now....**** him, he's a colt and Landry is a fin..

The fail trade back is the only thing that bothers me, but who knows if the Saints tried to get the upper hand on the new gmail and hockey told them to tuck off...

I take it your auto-correct is on but that is exactly what happened.

Me too, if hickey would made the deal, none of this value and reaching would be in the discussion.. instead hickey played it safe, had his 7 players written on the news paper and that was all she wrote.... hey, at least we have a little more protection for Tannyboy...

I would bet you everything I own to your $1 the bolded part would be wrong...

You know what I find funny is Ireland would of never addressed the O line like Hickey did and now Hickey is a failure.

He spent the 1st overall pick, the 15th overall pick, a second round pick, 2 third round picks, a fourth round pick, a sixth round pick, and over $100 million dollars on that line.

Ireland would absolutely have addressed the line this offseason and he probably would have made the same exact moves as Hickey. Billy Turner would be the only exception, though he most certainly would have gone guard at some point high in the draft.
