As every year begins, I am always the ultimate optimist. I see the potential, and understand the concerns we all have with the teams needs (OL, DB, etc). Yet, every year there is the team that comes out of nowhere to surprise everyone, and make a strong push into the playoffs, if not the Superbowl, (IE the Panthers 2 years ago with Delhomme at the helm).
Gus has been an effective QB in this league, and I feel has the Skills to do some great things. Unfortunately for him, and I'm sure many of us have felt the same way, he has just been in the wrong places at the wrong times, and never really been given the opportunity to really succeed. He has paid his dues, and been around the league, and will have a breakout Pro Bowl season (ala Rich Gannon). Rich himself was not considered the best of quarterbacks, until all the sudden he breaks out, and leads the Raiders to an unbeleivable season which will mark his legacy. I'm predicting Gus to have the same type of success, and turn in a season to remember for all Fin fans.

You heard it here First!

Peace!
That would be the only realistic way I could see of us having a playoff or Super Bowl run but it's just wishful thinking. Those are the kind of things you just really can't realistic predict, they just happen (Rich Gannon, Kurt Warner, Tom Brady, etc. etc.) I'm not going to bash you because I hope that you are right... but I'm not getting my hopes up or setting the expectations too high... I'm just trying to be realistic. You shouldn't get your hopes up, but that's the best thing that could possibly happen with us signing Gus Frerotte.

In 2 preseason games Ray Lucas looked like the second coming of Marino, then came reality and he turned out to be a Losman!

Haha! Are you implying Losman sucks? So far he looks better than anything you have. If in case he struggles we still have Holcomb who again looks better than anything you have.

OH and BTW, your Ray Lucas example can also be used for Gus. That logic is stupid like I said. You couldn't even refute Bledsoe , Garcia and Brunnel. :goof:

Hasselbeck....... rough 1st year as a starter, almost a Fin. We were glad after that 1st year he wasn't.

Griese..... good, rough, good, rough, good, good, good things happen. Now he is looking good.

Brooks bumps in the road.

There will be bumps, but I feel Gus will improve as the season goes on. Pro Bowl I doubt, but it could happen. Who would have thought Brees was going to do what he did last year. Not 1 person I have ever talked to, even charger fans!

It's one thing to be a ****eyed optimist, another to be living in lala land!! :rofl3: :rofl3: :rofl3: :rofl3:

Now you're backpedaling.

I agree, Gus could do better as time goes on but for you to act like Losman is a a bust is stupid.

Griese? If you want to use him as an example I can also use a second year starter as an example. Brady . Sat out the first year and rest was history. I'm not saying he's the next Brady but he's in the same shoes. Whether he pans out remains to be seen. But right now he's looking way better than anything you have.

Bledsoe was good enough to keep Losman from palying. Looking good in Dallas. Brunell will prob. be starting in Wsh again. He has been looking impressive from what I hear!

I just say
"Keep the herd running, here come the poachers"

Bills suck! Final answer for you on this board!

So Buffalo has the same caliber of team as NE?
Hahahahahahahhhahahhahahaahh

Well, I don't know where you got the info that Gus has been an effective QB in the league, except in a few fill-in games, but you might want to come down a notch with the optimism that Gus will be any better than he ever has been.

gus is alright but why blow a 2nd rd pick on feely and keep him a back up i'd rather lose 11 or 12 games with feely as qb then with gus and maybe leinhart could be there or we could get a p.rivers
