Gus is making the right decisions out there... he's just making bad passes. He looks good under pressure, he's firing away... We just need him to hit his targets. Anyone think this can be fixed with a little work? Cuz our offense looks to be very dangerous if we can get some consistency passing the ball. If he continues to mis-fire this much... shouldn't we bench him ? I don't think he's on a short leash yet, but he isn't the only car in the garage. However, I do expect him to improve this second half, and finish the season as the starter. I just don't think we can continue to put up with the way he's been playing(throwing) lately.

I don't think this can be fixed. He's been in the league for years now, and has been a consistent back up. That has been his problem his entire career. If it could be fixed, I figure he would have fixed it by now.

I thought Gus was absolutly horrible last night. He missed wide open WR's especially Welker on a couple of occasions. He needs to go and go now!

I agree with you partially. He misses Welker and McMichael on plays that could've been touchdowns if only he put some touch on the ball, but then he makes a couple passes later in the game exhibiting touch  . He's inconsistent with his throws. I don't think he needs to go now, because he's the best we have on our roster. Right now, although it is laughable; we are still in the hunt for the AFC East title; we are one game out of first place; so we still have to play our best. We do need another QB, but we are handcuffed; and we can only hope for improved chemistry right now.

He has missed a ton of Touchdowns to wide open guys thru-out this year including yesterday. Somehow, he made some other throws that helped us pull off the win. I'd like to see Sage start a game or two before this year is over.

See that is what's so frustrating about Gus, he IS making the right decisions and throwing to the right receivers...he's just overthrowing them constantly. I've lost count on how many times he's misfired on what would've been a sure TD. :shakeno:

I'll say this about Gus - at least he hasn' thrown any Pick-6 passes this season. That said, I wish he'd start throwing more often for six for us. He's left some big plays out there over the last few weeks - some that would be sure or possible TDs.

It could be worse, I suppose. We've all seen that here the last few years.

Stick w/ Gus. We can't replace mediocre with medioocre...that does no good. Gus looked pretty good yesterday. The throw to Mcmichael was a ball that Mcmichael should have caught. That was a tough pass, man and it was there. It could have been a bit better, but it was there. Good solid pass. Now, Gus DID screw up BIG time on the Welker miss. OUCH! That one hurt because there was nobody near him within 15 yards and he was running full speed. Other than that bad pass to Welker, he was pretty solid. You can't tell me no QB's miss passes. They all do, even the great ones. But God forbid, Gus misses someone......HE HAS TO GO! Give Gus a break, he did well and he will continue to do well as he leads us to Detroit.

I agree, he is making the right reads and he knows and feels the timing within the pocket. The results are not pretty and his accuracy is the only benchmark where as fans he deserves ridicule, but he is the best person right now to play the position and know exactly what is to happen every single play.....he puts the team in the best position....its the accuracy that is hit or miss.

I think the time to make a QB change is when Saban can hold a press conference and say "the offense is playing great as a unit and individuals are doing their job, but the QB is off in his throws and that has to change." Until then Saban has valid reasons to ride it out with Gus.

Right now I think Gus is one of the few who knows in every play where everyone is supposed to be. And right now I dont think Saban sees in the Film everyone being where they are supposed to be.

It is frustrating to watch, but at least he is making the right decisions. hopefully his accuracy will come around. that game yesterday should have been a blow out, over by the end of the third.

I was so frustrated because accuracy was not there :yell: . The recievers were open and had room to run on several occassions. Damnit Gus please work on your accuracy. I will not lose faith in my team or our starting QB.

2 bad passes?? that was all you saw?? did you only watch the highlights? And when you talk about the pass to McMichael that should have been caught, which one are you talking about? The one where he overthrew him down the middle? The one behind him in the endzone that got picked? The out pattern that was thrown into the dirt at his feet? Which one?

The one that got picked was deflected my McMike:shakeno:

Get used to GUS fellas. He's caretaking and managing our team until one of our young QB's (that we'll draft in the future) or Cleo is ready.

Get on the bus.

We just need to run the ball and play WANNY ball with our 2 great RB's. Although it should be WANNY ball with just a little more creativity and explosiveness.

c'mon man. The one thrown to Mcmike's feet didn't matter. Had he caught it, he would have gained a yard. Pushing the pass to where Randy could have caught it would have risked an INT....it wouldn't have been worth it for a 1 yd gain.
As for the INT in the Endzone....tipped ball. The one down the middle hit Randy in the hands. Again, the pass could have been better but it should have been caught.
Hey, I don't think tere's a QB in the league who didn't miss an open WR yesterday. It happens, they're human, ya know.
