Hadnot Impressing Saban

Just noticed... If that is accurate, that's great news... but wasn't it said not too long ago that we we're only 2 million under?? If this is the case would Ricky coming back and signing Keith Traylor be a problem? (Also keep in mind we still have cuts to make like David Bowens which would be around 2.2 million I believe?)
We are currently somewhere in between $6.5-7 million I believe cap wise. The reason it was stated that we would have only $2 million to spend on FAs is because of our Rookie Pool which is about $4.6 million. After we sign our rookies, we would have around $2 million left.

Bittersweet. Im elated that Hadnot is doing so well. But at the sametime, it seemed like Carey waas dissapointing. Maybe i interpreted it wrong.

yeah thats the way i read it--if ever we need a stand out lineman its this year--I am pleased for hadnot though-hope he starts at center

We are actually a little over 6 million under, but with the rookie allowance being in the 4 million dollar range. We are actually about 2+ million under.
Beat me to it.

Great improvement is always good! Hopefull we can see how good he is if he starts at RG or C

Imo the only weak spot in the O-line is Vernon. He has the talent, but I have heard rumors that he does not prepare like a proffesional. If Saban can't light a fire under his A**, nobody will be able to. I think Saban will motivate this guy to reach his potential and we shall have a good offensive line. The rest of the peices seem to be falling into place.

That will actually be Houck's job and if anyone could do it houck would be the guy.

Last summer I remember Ozzy was impressed with Hadnot during training camp last year. Now we are starting to see why.

You're right. It is his job and he will get him to play well. But, if that fails you can bet Saban will be calling Carey into his office for a little chat. :)

If it gets to the point were Saban needs to talk to him he will already be in NFL Europe.

Na, first round picks usually get a couple of chances to prove their worth. If he was drafted after round 3.....ya, he'd be in Europe right now.

Dont forget Wade Smith may be an option at center now. He wont have to worry about guys like Dwight Freeney getting there probowl ticket from him on the interior.
Yup, I agree. I was just doing the quick draft. To get more detailed it would be something more like...

Currently what it's looked like:

LT- Damion McIntosh/Vernon Cary/Tony Pape
LG- Jeno James/Damion Cook
C- Seth McKinney/Wade Smith
RG- Rex Hadnot/Taylor Whitley/Bobby Meeks
RT- Stockar McDougle/John St. Clair/ Anthony Alabi

What I would like:

LT- Damion McIntosh/Tony Pape/Anthony Alabi
LG- Jeno James/Damion Cook
C- Rex Hadnot/Wade Smith
RG- Vernon Carey/Seth McKinney?/Taylor Whitley?/Bobby Meeks
RT- Stockar McDougle/John St. Clair/

Possible Cut: Seth McKinney and maybe Taylor Whitley

Not sure about St. Clair whether to keep him at back-up RT... move him to back-up LT or possibly back-up RG.

Maybe I'd make some more changes or take some back, but that would be the jist of it. I'm content with the starters, the back-ups get quite confusing.

Possibly move Seth McKinnley to back-up RG.
Possibly move Anthony Alabi to back-up LT instead of third-string RT.

Thanks. I was thinking that but I was not entirely sure. Thank you both.

I have been impressed with Hadnot ever since I heard about him recording 160 pancake blocks in ONE SEASON!!! He actually went his last two years in college allowing a sack in only ONE GAME IN TWO YEARS!!! He didnt allow a sack in over 400 pass attempts in 2001!

I always have said that once Hadnot was placed in the lineup last year the entire offensive line played better.

Hadnot is to the O-line....what Tim Bowens is/was to the D-line.

The entire line just plays better when those two guys are out there.

IMO
