Positives
* Mike Wallace one-handed TD catch.
* Jelani Jenkins 14 TOT, 9 Solo as a starting LB.
* Brent Grimes play in the first, stripping Sammy Watkins at the last second of a TD catch.
* The defense was 5-15 on 3rd down.
* The defense held Buffalo to 1 of 6 in the Red Zone.
* After the Bills blocked a punt, Miami kept the Bills from scoring six even though they were in close.

Negatives
* Lost Turnover Differential 0-2.
* The offense was 5-16 on 3rd down.
* 4 Sacks given up.
* Ryan Tannehill was bad today. In the first half, he seemed to see "ghosts" and ended up holding on to the ball which generated into pressures and sacks for Buffalo. He was again inaccurate. RT was poor executing screens. The last offense snap for Miami, RT tossed a terrible interception to finish the frustrating day. In the second half RT was better, but still not nearly good enough.
* Too many drops on offense. Brian Hartline dropped a bomb that would have gone for a TD late in the game. Lamar Miller dropped a 3rd down conversion while the game was close. Rishard Matthews dropped a ball. Charles Clay had another. Simply a lack of concentration.
* Knowshon Moreno's elbow injury.
* The defense generated no pass rush. E.J. Manual had way too much time throughout the game.
* C.J. Spiller's long run in which Jason Trusnik got caught inside and could not recover and Grimes missing a tackle…Spiller set up a Bills TD.
* Cam Wake had an undrafted rookie he was facing at RT, but was completely shutout today.
* Poor response by the defense after the Wallace score.
* The defense was subpar defending simple check downs by Buffalo.
* Blocked punt that appeared Damien Williams missed his assignment.
* Brandon Fields was rushed too much today, forcing not just the aforementioned block, but two bad shanks.
* The kick return units giving up a TD to C.J. Spiller after Miami had just scored points.
* Jarvis Landry fumbled a punt off of his face mask.
* Brandon Gibson had a catch in the 3rd, that even though he went to the ground, he appeared not to be touched. The officials called him down anyways.
* On Sammy Watkins' TD, he appeared to not have control of the ball. He juggled it, but got control and stretched the ball out. As he reached out to score, Watkins appeared to have the ball squirt out of his hand as it hit the pylon. I truly thought it was a fumble.
* Disappointing not to see Joe Philbin attempt to get points at the end of the half. Tannehill is strong in the no huddle, two minute situation. Points could have given some momentum going into the half and made it a one score game. Perhaps, the team could have made a mistake and made the half worse. However, I would have liked to see the HC have faith in his QB and offense and attack.

Overall Assessment
* Today's game was going to be tough no matter what happened last week. The Bills were riding a ton of emotion and Miami needed to make plays early to rattle the opposition. That did not happen. Miami just could not do much of anything today.
* The one ray of hope today was after the Wallace TD, the Fins were within six points. However, on the ensuing Bills possession, the defense allowed them to drive the field that ended in a Watkins TD. That effectively ended the game. Disappointing.
* I was disappointed in the first half design and play calling by Bill Lazor. There were no screens after a week in which the Bills were terrible at defending them. There were no jet sweeps or reverses to slow down the pass rush. The read option looks were limited. I was shocked that they did not try to "uptempo the pace" more. I DID think the 2nd half was much better for Lazor and any shortcomings in the second stanza was on the players' execution.
* With that said, I think Miami lacked concentration and the "killer instinct" to compete with the charged up Bills and their crowd. I wanted to see more fight and vigor.
* Ryan Tannehill must start to be more of a factor for this team in winning games. He is in his third year and must start playing consistently. He is maddening that at times he can make big time throws and demonstrate the look of a franchise QB. However, there are other times he is woefully inaccurate or holding the ball. Too many times he cannot lead his team to success when his team is in trouble. He has been disappointing throughout the preseason and the first two weeks of the year.
* While Moreno is going to be out awhile, I want the team to see what they have Damien Williams and Orleans Darkwa. I think these kids run hard, have good vision and seem to have a clue in the passing game. Perhaps, a vet is needed, but I want to see more…not less of the two UDFA's.
* I have been the biggest Lamar Miller supporter since him coming to the team. However, I think he is regressing. His vision is lacking. He has never broken tackles, but does not seem as explosive as he did in his first year. He is fighting the ball as a receiver. With Moreno out, Miller needs to step up big time.
* The LB injuries are killing the special teams. The injuries to the starting LB's are obviously making core special teamers play regular defensive snaps. Leaks are springing left and right on the coverage units.
* A frustrating part for me today is how poor of a QB E.J. Manual is. He constantly starred down receivers and could not make a money throws. Totally disappointing to lose to Manual today.
* Sammy Watkins is a drama queen. After every big play, he came off limping to the sideline to the waiting arms of the team trainer. Yet, a few plays later he was running and catching the ball.
* Randy Starks is one tough guy. His foot was in a boot all week, but he found a way to be with his team this weekend.
* I was taken aback when Adam Archuleta described Miami trying to get yards at the end of the game by stating they were "dinking away". I have heard of "dink and dunk", but not "dinking".
* While Miami has had their share of injuries, reinforcements are coming. Reshad Jones and Dion Jordan should be back. Mike Pouncey is getting closer by the week. Koa Misi might be available soon as well. The season is long and injuries happen. However, it will be a huge boost to get some of their best athletes back in the coming weeks.
* Folks, we are early in the schedule. It is silly for the media and fans to point to "such and such a team is in last place"…after one week has been played or "this particular team is in first place"…after two weeks. The bottom-line is Miami is in solid spot after two weeks. They defended their home field against a great team in New England and lost going into a tough environment against a bad matchup in Buffalo. Miami is exactly where it should be.

Major props to you for being able to find 6 positives. That must of took a while.

Jason Trusnick looked awful. He was consistently victimized in our zone defense and he literally has no athletic ability.

Actually, we are in a better position than expected because not many thought we could beat the Pats

Jason Trusnick looked awful. He was consistently victimized in our zone defense and he literally has no athletic ability.

Obvious though now? He is a special teams ace and a backup linebacker. Wasn't expecting him to keep up with there playmakers was anyone.

At the end of the day we are 1-1 can't be upset with that. Tannehill needs to improve but so do Miller, Hartline, Clay and everyone else with a drop today. Losing knowshon hurt alot

So, what will Jones and Dion do for us exactly when they return? Jones was mia last year (after his big payday), and Dion has not shown anything ...yet.

Too bad they moved Dion to end, because we could sure use him at his natal position of LB. Trusnick and Wheeler are about as bad as it gets.

IMO Jenkins should start over Wheeler when we get guys back

Tannehill must be consistent.
He has always been streaky, he needs to settle down and play to his potential.

Good job Hayden!

Tough to watch today. Hopefully we take care of business with them down in Miami.

We can criticize Miller all we want, but again he average a respectable amount on the ground (versus a tough defense) and we simply did not give him or anyone else for the matter enough carries to be effective. If a guy rushes 22 times for 92 yards you'd say he'd had a pretty good game. When he rushes 11 times for 46 yards he somehow doesn't have it. He is never going to be a frontline runner, but we act like the book on him as an NFL running back has been written when he gets the least amount of carries of any NFL starter in the league, and not due to his YPC.

Miami is exactly where it should be.

IMO, this is the truth. We were better than New England last week and won handily. We were worse than Buffalo this week and lost badly.

We are an inconsistent team that keeps shooting itself in the foot and is not good enough to overcome that deficiency consistently. It does not help that the most inconsistent player on the field is the quarterback.

So, what will Jones and Dion do for us exactly when they return? Jones was mia last year (after his big payday), and Dion has not shown anything ...yet.

1. Jones will push Wilson to the NCB.
2. Jordan and Jones will either directly or indirectly add bodies to special teams.
3. Jordan can be part of the speed package.
4. KC has two good TE's, maybe Jordan and Jones can run with them.
5. Jordan is another rotational guy at DE for a team playing in hot South Fla.

"Reinforcements are coming..Reshad Jones and Dion Jordan"??? Really...
