Hayden Fox's Preseason Week Three Assessment

Tannehill had a bad night. That interception was as bad as it gets.

It's just stunning to me that Dallas Thomas continues getting looks with the first team. Dude is just flat bad. We've seen enough, Joe. He stinks.

Tannehill looked like he was looking for a back shoulder throw and hartline kept going.

Hayden - another great writeup. Your analytical skills are already in great form.
- The other big plus that was the deliberate effort to get Mike Wallace in the game with some solid catches for decent yardage. I'm still convinced that Wallace is a stud and Lazor will know how to use him better than Sherman.
- Dallas Thomas may have been playing for his Dolphin career. I think that Philbin/Lazor/Benton may have given him the reps to assess if he can be possibly salvaged or to cut him. For all of the Philbin comments about improving at Training Camp, Dallas just doesn't seem strong enough to hold up. I am looking for something but see nothing that warrants salvaging. Huge investment of coaching time and effort appears to have been wasted.
- With some teams so depleted at WR and we have at least 6, maybe Hickey tries to trade one of our guys for an O-lineman, where we remain thin. Thin is not a good look at O-line.

For those saying do not get too pumped about the run game because Dallas sucks at defending it…I get your point, but Miami did what it was SUPPOSED to do…it racked up huge yards against a weak team. That is a great thing IMO.

Miami was supposed to score points on a horrible Dallas defense and didn't. For one reason or another when Tannehill is on the field the offense doesn't finish drives and that is becoming a concern.

This.....clearly a miscommunication on that play.

Hayden, nice job with the game analysis. I was VERY encouraged by the run game last night and the teams ability to move the ball. The lack of scoring or finishing is concerning, but hopefully as this group plays together more it will all come together.

I saw a very competitive team on the field last night. Also, Dallas has an explosive offense and our "D" did a great job!!!!

The entire offense had a brainfart while Tannehill was on the field. Sims fumble. Satele with a block in the back turning a just converted 3rd and 3 into a 3rd and 10. Offensive line for some reason forgetting the snap count forcing Tannehill to throw the ball away.

On the other hand, Moore got help from great individual efforts by certain players. On his first TD drive, a 2-20 converted by Williams and then a great 50 yard pass by Moore. On his 2nd TD drive Darkwa had a 53 yard run and the TD throw was about 20% Moore, 80% Hoskins. Not to mention the he also got 2 first downs from Dallas penalties on that drive.

The fact of the matter is, the 2nd team offense made a lot less mistakes as a whole and had a lot of great individual effort. Point being, placing the teams success or failures entirely on the QB is incredibly short sighted. I agree completely that the int by Tannehill was incredibly bad but I think it's unfair to blame the entire first team woes on Tannehill while discrediting the fact that the success of the team while Moore was in was a due to a great TEAM effort.

I love James and Albert. Pass pro looks so much better this year its scary. Dallas Thomas I think is still miscast instead of being a LG...

Dallas Thomas is miscast, alright. He is doing a terrible job of acting as an NFL lineman.

Denying that the offense doesn't finish drives while Tannehill is playing is short sighted. Starters have one offensive TD this preseason. We all know what happened the end of last year. In 31 career starts the offense has scored 30 twice. Do you not see a pattern?

Don't get too excited about the run game. Dallas's D is garbage.

Oh dont worry I wont. Henceforth we suck at the run game (Moreno first game.lol)

Here's the rub with preseason. These stats for preseason dont mean anything because they dont account for the ability to make the comeback in 4th quarter and building through an entire game. Saying we only scored one TD doesnt really mean much. We also run the ball in for TD's to. Ever consider that?

Apparently you and many others just focus on the big plays made and given up. The second team offense made alot of mistakes. dont kid yourself.

And this is why the media suck. They set this whole thing up. If this were the Patriots it would just mean they have a run game. seriously. It just boggles the mind.

The starters have no rushing TDs. And I agree stats mean nothing in pre season. What is meaningful is the starters have not played well and it's becoming a concern.

Year after year, people continue to make excuses for this sorry franchise.
