Here is how it will play out...

Nonetheless, we'll soon find out

You sure about that? An issue I have with Ross is his penchant for waiting until the end to pull the trigger. Its not about being impatient. It's about getting ahead of the pack and getting to work on the issues, now, not after the pool of talent has dried up.

I am pretty sure we are not the only team looking for a new FO. If I were Ross, I would get things moving within a week so that everyone knows that our GM position is now officially OPEN and that there is no doubt about that. No keeping Ireland around just in case. If he wants the new GM to make a decision on Philbin, as it should be, then he needs to let Philbin know NOW. Your on notice Mr. Philbin, if the new GM interviews you and he deems you unworthy of your position, get ready to move on.

Let things be CLEAR now from the beginning, not a shadowy mess of things (Harbaugh) or strings attached (Ireland as GM no matter what) as before.

Ireland must go.

I'm perfectly fine with allowing the new GM to evaluate Joe Philbin and make a decision one way or another.

I still vote for John Gruden... He can have the GM and Coaching job and I bet the organization will turn around and he will retire as the next Don Shula... Thats my drug induced opinion !!

Cover to protect him from whom? Why does Ross need cover to fire Philbin?

He's made a number of big mistakes in the hiring process so far and he doesn't need to make another. Otherwise he will come across looking like Jerry Jones, or someone who never learns from his mistakes. Hiring a new GM will eliminate the need for HIM to fire Philbin, looking like the bad guy and also the guy who made a bad coaching hire. The bottom line for me is that the organization needs to move forward, and for that to happen Ross must allow those who actually know the football biz to help him make some good decisions going forward.

He would want total control, but Ross might actually prefer that after his numerous missteps. Chucky would certainly bring the energy and put butts in seats next year. He is also a QB guru which we really need. I would have no problem with him at all.

I think we still have a lot offer. A team that showed some promise this year. A good young QB and some good pieces on offense. A potentially top defense. Plus an owner with deep pockets who really wants to win.

As a businessman myself I have in the past tended to rely on my instincts or my gut rather than the facts, and it has cost me. In MBA school I learned that was a common pitfall and have since developed a group of business mentors that I can bounce my ideas off of, and they help me formulate my decisions. I eventually make the final decision but I have learned not to only trust my gut.

You had to shell out big bucks to learn something that common sense dictates?

Which drugs? I'll be sure to avoid them. :d-day:

How about contributing something intelligent to the conversation. You're like the critic who eagerly criticizes others without ever accomplishing anything meaningful themselves. People who do achieve always do it through failure and learning from it.

"Critics are like eunuchs in a harem; they know how it's done, they've seen it done every day, but they're unable to do it themselves."
