Here's a new spin.....

What a great article, thanks for posting it. I know I've quit my job because I wanted to go do something else. It is still a job, even if it is a job we are all envious of having. I'm sure lots of us have jobs that we don't particularly like but are good at and know we can make money at it. I'm in sales, I don't really like selling but I can do it very well it pays the bills and lets me endulge myself in going to Miami once a year in doing it and supporting a team like a crazy person.

Great read! I love the part also about Palmeiro and Sosa and McGwire. They lied in front of us and congress and we let them off the hooks, but Ricky gives an honest, "I don't know" answer and he's looked at with a raised eye brow! GREAT Article!

Great article and 100% correct. Unfortunately many of the people reading it here will still be selfish in their own minds and make excuses against it.

:D That's where the Jets and Bills hail from. That's all

Fair enough
Personally I would say the jets are a jersey team but I know finfans from jersey would dispute it.

Hogwash. Honesty? I guess thats the reason Ricky claimed a different excuse every time he spoke to a reporter.

What excuses???? I heard him say he did not enjoy football anymore. Who would? Did you enjoy football last year? I enjoyed football and was embarrased that we call what Miami played as football. There was not 1 player that truly enjoyed the 04 season. Honestly. Look at those post game interviews when Zach was welcoming RW back if it would help win. "If it helps win, them I'm all for it. I just want to win"

all thats very true lets give him a second chance everyone deserves one. and hope he get heathly and gains some wieght.

No, he answered exactly what he was thinking at the time of the question. He's not using the party line BS that everyone else does.

Thanks!!!! 100%

Very good read. Very well broken down in context where people could understand Ricky. Hope people change their mind about this guy. I havent. Stick with your players.

opinions?
Great read. Agree 100% with everything he said. Although I think there was one more perspective he could have hit on that would have brought readers closer into the mind of RW so that we could appreciate the situation for what it was.

Imagine you're RW (I know...it's tough), you've come off of two consecutive seasons of carrying the rock 400 times, one of those years you belted out 1800 yards and it still didn't make one lick of difference in the team's ultimate success, and you're faced with the prospect of heading down the same road once again...getting the snot beat out of you play after play while playing for the same underachieving coach, behind the same underachieving QB and OL, all the while your coach simply replies "we'll just keep trying" when referring to your head and the brick wall, and you're gonna get your writst slapped something fierce for your personal recreational habits.

Tell me you would want to put yourself through that. Would a team make similar sacrifices for a player? Would they pay out the arse for a selfish unappreciative and underachieving player? Nope, they'd cut bait and run.

What do y'all think?

Yep, great article. I pretty much agree 100%. As somebody else said, I hated it when Ricky let, for my own selfish reasons, but I cannot fault him for doing what he thinks (thought) was right for himself. After all, every one of us has the final responsibility for pursuing happiness in our lives, in whatever way we can figure out. Nobody else is going to do it for us.
