Grimes took a very team friendly deal because he badly wanted to stay in Miami. Any gm woulda signed him and it would have been an epic fail to lose a player in that situation
 
Meh, Albert is really nothing to be excited about. He's a decent LT. Not worth the rumored $10 mil per year, though.

There's no way to prove what Ireland would have done no matter how you slice it.
 
How much is MArtin worth? He is still on the roster? We make playoffs last year with Albert on the roster. He is a pro bowler. Thank your lucky stars you dont have martin or Mckinnie starting at LT next year.
 
We sign an injury prone safety and an ordinary old washed up LT to a MAX deal and Hickey gets props for that? Lol. I predict week 6 everyone on here wants Hickeys head just for these 2 horrible signings

Ireland didnt think he was worth big investment and I agree with him on that. I would have prefered any of the 3 other good tackles that are on the market to Albert.

Ireland didn't think he was worth a 2nd round pick. He was going to get paid though...
 
Its kind of funny, last year everyone was chastizing Ireland for not addressing the line. Now that the line is being addressed, some people arent even the least bit satisfied. We all know FA's are expensive, Especially a top ten LT. Not that I like Ireland, but I wonder what the reaction would be if Ireland was still here and HE brought Albert in??

You're a bit premature in your effusive gushing praise. No one has actually been signed yet, and it's not the hardest thing in the world to overpay someone in free agency. Let's see how Hickey's first draft class pans out before pinning medals to his chest. And before you call his first draft the "greatestest bestestest eva!!!," keep in mind it hasn't happened yet and we haven't seen any of the players we'll have drafted in a real game. Remember how great everyone thought last year's off-season was before the season?

It's not that people aren't "satisfied" that the O-line talent void is being addressed. It's just WAY too early to tell if whatever Hickey does is going to pan out. Any schmuck can pay people a lot of money to play a game. It takes a great football mind to put together a combination of players that compliment each other and compliment the scheme in a way that translates into consistent quality play ...and wins.

What does it matter? This isn't about just being better than Ireland. If Hickey sucks but doesn't suck as bad as Ireland, we're still left with a GM that sucks. Forget Ireland. He's gone and nothing that happens from here out is about him.
