Hickey implementing new technology for the draft

Why is everyone so anti technology. Its an aid, its makes it faster to look through prospects, can bring up tape on the fly for last looks on guys.

Say he gets a trade offer, he can now look up what potential guys may be in the spot that he trades to and can weigh if its worth it by comparing the guys. In the limited time you get to make the pick that trade call cant take that long so you get the best decision possible by getting the information faster. Sure if you don't trade you can pick and choose of your list and you don't really need it but that not a very unlikely scenario.
 
Because technology is information.. that's great in this circumstance.. But building knowledge is experience not information.. We used to remember phone numbers by heart, we used to look on paper maps, we used to socialize and go outside and build forts... It's not progress, it's the illusion of progress.. The truth, it has dumb society down.. Smart phone are smart...Not you! :tubes:

Honestly I'm so sick of people on here blaming "mediocrity" for why they bitch about every little stupid thing. This isn't anything to complain about- it's just information that would make a normal person go "huh, interesting. Nice to know. Thanks OP"

I would bet you had a little book somewhere in your house with all the numbers you needed written down, the only difference is they book is now in the phone. Great you could read a paper map, the same paper map that now is just more accessible and easier to read. The phones are smart because they have access to information that you would have to obtain in other ways before. Its no different when you have a question if you look it up using your phone or go to the library and find the book. Only difference is that its more convenient.
 
Ireland system was a list from excel sort players by height, then sort by speed.

You missed the point, we used to remember phone numbers by heart, we were taught to use a dictionary, we were taught to understand maps, we were taught to socialize face to face..Etc. Friends now are created in social media, not real friends. it's created a self entitled, microwave society... instant gratification... I want it now because siri showed me where to get it.. lol
 
Ummmmm we've had smart boards in classrooms at the school i work at for what..... at least 4 years now? Surprised they're just getting around to it in football. Actually considering that many coaches are older guys i can see how they're not up on the latest technology.
 
Andy Cohen was on Finsiders yesterday and said that Hickey made it very clear that this will not replace the eyeball test, breaking down film, interviewing players, etc. It just seems like an easier/faster way to access information, stats, rankings on the players at a time where time is limited and the clock is actually ticking down.
 
Ima gamer and I think this shook definitely improve his choice with bpa! "Oh I don't like this" that's silly to think IN MY OPINION. Especially with how horrid our paste drafts have been. I'll take any advantage over every team if I honestly believe it will help. I'm not saying it's going to help us and we will draft better than every team but it's something that we haven't done before and what we were doing in the past wasn't working. Change or stay the same, I like this.

We understand your point. It sounds like a "I remember when I was young ..." story. I am not aware of a single peer reviewed paper that concludes that technology makes us weaker. I remember the statements about rock music making my generation weaker, more violent, and anti-social. You are entitled to your opinion, but I do not agree.
 
Stat based insight into players......I can only imagine Shou pinging off the walls right now. He's probably already changed his last name to Hickey. :hump:
 
this will be a tool that Im sure CK will approve. And I also find the use of advance analytical tools as advantageous.
