Hickey, take a look at what Ozzie did.

Well, last year the team needed a tackle and didn't reach for one as well....seemed to work out ok...

Get over it already. We needed o-line help much more than the Ravens did and Hickey did what he had to do to correct the major issue this team had from last year.

Who cares what the Ravens did.

Ozzie has been an excellent GM, but let's not pretend that he's infallible. He made some mistakes last off-season and it was only by swinging a trade for Monroe that he was really able to recover from it.

The irony is that Ozzie, the bastion of BPA rhetoric, drafted for need. The difference is that Ozzie didn't reach too far for those needs in a deep draft.

He needed DL, and his patience paid off with a falling Jernigan. He needed an ILB too, so when no DL was near his top grade and an ILB was, he took the ILB first. He needed a WR but that was the deepest position in the draft so he let the position come to him. He needed a DB, which was probably the draft's second deepest position so he let that one come to him too.

Ozzie didn't reach. He typically drafts guys who were rated high based on tape at the seasons end, but that fall for other reasons later in the draft process. He did that again with guys like Jernigan. But, just like every other GM in the league, he drafted to his team's needs. To his credit, he did not reach to get there.

The Ravens went into the draft desperately needing a RT. The Ravens left the draft still desperately needing a RT. As of right now, the Ravens have no RT on the roster. How is that good?

If Newsome were our GM, and he didnt draft a RT, lets be real...you would be calling for him to be fired.

Every team drafts for need. BPA is at least an incomplete phrase if not a dumb one. It should be best player available for (insert the name of the team here). Philosophies may be different on the value of positions but every team considers need as part of their "bpa" formula.

In 2012 we needed a QB and most would say Tannehill was a reach at 8, but 8 was our pick and Tannehill would likely be gone before our next pick so what choice did we have but to "reach?"

yeaaaaaa because ozzie has been amazing the last few years.

An average team somehow won a superbowl (well done for that but it was far from an amazing team) then falls appart, was just bad last season, has an overpaid qb and many other issues remain.

Ozzie is a good gm but he isnt the godlike gm some want to make him out to be

edit: after seeing this thread I typed ravens draft into google to see who all they took and the first article on the list, from a local paper was this

[h=1]After NFL draft, offensive line remains Ravens' biggest weakness[/h]
An average football team had an average draft.
The Ravens came away from the annual event held over the weekend with nine rookies, but only two — linebacker C.J. Mosley and safety Terrence Brooks — will have immediate impact. A third, defensive tackle Timmy Jernigan, could make this draft a little bit more special.

Im far from a hickey fan and this draft was different than I hoped but this thread is dumb
