Hickey was instrumental in bringing Revis to Tampa

Talib : 6 Year / $57 / $26 Guaranteed..... Basically $9.5/Year with 45% Guaranteed.

I'm assuming

Revis : 6 Years / $72 / $32.5 Guaranteed.... $12/Year with 45% Guaranteed.

Any takers?

The problem is that he will decide he is worth more in two years and sit out until we give him more money. He is a diva and I want nothing to do with him.

Money and vet's going to contenders never mix.

Vets that go to contenders to chase the ring will take sub-par contracts.

20th time I've said this today, Revis wants $$$$. Unless he has a change of heart and actually cares about winning he will go to the highest bidder.

Do we have the cap space to go after him? Yes

Should we? Yes

Whats the cut off dollar amount? $12?

We only have about $12 million left to spend if you run on the assumptions that we save about $5 million for the rookie class, about $5 million to head into the season, and don't want to cut Matt Moore. Revis would be our last significant signing at $12 million per.

Agreed.

If we are serious about Revis, expect Moore to be cut.

Last season, PFF ranked Revis #1 and Grimes #2 among CBs.

What a combo they would make!

That's the only way I think it's remotely possible. Even then we would be spreading things thin at other positions, and taking a big risk on a bit of a diva.

Revis and Grimes would be a no fly zone and it would make sense to have 2 great CB's with 2 SS's playing.... But it won't happen. Although, stranger things have happened, I never would have thought the Fins would have gotten Reggie Bush or Brandon Marshall, or even Chad Pennington/(Do I say it?) Daunte Culpepper for that matter.

You don't have to go that far. How about trading to #3 last years draft and getting Dion Jordan instead of what everyone expected in a OT.

Their simply stating Hickey gave up the house to get him

GOD SOME OF YOU PEOPLE JUST ARE NOT GETTING IT!!!

DENNIS HICKEY was not the gm in tampa, HICKEY didnt give away ANY house! instrumental on bringing him here? what does that mean? he told the gm it would be a good idea to make a play for the best cb in the game? theres a shocker!!! you really think hickey told the gm of the team what to give up to get him?

maybe THIS could be why MARK DOMINIK, THE GM got fired? HE is the one who ok'd the revis trade and HE is the one who agreed to how much. IT WAS NOT HICKEY FOR GODS SAKE!!!!

after the bucs gm said "yeah, good idea dennis, lets see if we can nab him", what did hickey say about what the GM gave up to get him?

was hickey for it? was he against it?

WE DONT KNOW!!! AND AGAIN, weather hickey told the GM to give up the farm or not to do that deal, THE GM IS THE ONE RESPONSIBLE AND IS THE ONE WHO OK'S EVERYTHING, not the talent evaluater underling. dominik made the decision, not hickey!!

everybody on these boards keep acting like dennis hickey was the GM in tampa, HE WASNT!!! MARK DOMINIK WAS!! and DOMINIK is the one who brought in that awful head coach, schiano that NO ONE liked, players or front office. and that is why the bucs tanked so bad after signing all those big time f/a's, injury played a part, but the head coach was awful. he was their version of CAM CAMERON!!

SO PLEASE PEOPLE, STOP THE INSANITY! THINK ABOUT ALL THE THINGS BEHIND THE SCENES BEFORE BLAMING HICKEY FOR EVERYTHING FROM EBOLI TO THE KENNEDY ASSASSINATION!!

suggestions are one thing, making the call is another. as of NOW, he is not just an advisor, he is a gm, HE makes the calls now and we will see exactly what he brings to the table soon. lets wait untill then, after f/a. after the draft. after the season before we start talking hickeys faults or successes.

make sense? and this is for everyone, not just the OP but all of us, myself included. i was all for hickey getting the job and i believe in him, at least as a talent evaluater. but hey, like anyone else, player, f/o person, corn dog guy, he could flop!! he could could go down in flames fast! he hasnt been a gm before so we have nothing to go by. OR, he could be the guy who finally gets the right players in the right spots on this team. we shall find out!

Agreed. Who *better* to throw Shloads of $$ at him than Snyder or Jerry Jones?

Revis will be a Pat or a Jet (again). I really hope I'm wrong about that and he goes somewhere outside the division if he doesn't sign with us, but I've felt that way from the minute I heard he'd be cut.

The Patriots apparently didn't come CLOSE to touching the money Talib got. And Revis is going to demand MORE than that. Revis to the Patriots is all noise. Revis is going to the highest bidder, whoever that may be. I'm thinkig Eagles.

A) Talib is good but he's not half the player Revis is
B) Talib has had many off field issues and it's dangerous to give a guy like that big money
c) Belichick hates the Jets and would love to stick it to the Jets(as if he hasn't done enough already for an organization that was great to him)

getting DERRELL REVIS would be awsome!!

as the seahawks showed us all, you have to have big time players across your secondary to deal with the high flying nfl of today and guys who lead it like peyton manning.

is it impossible? no. sometimes guys like to go back to where the team the booted them is and get revenge. throw that in with a big money contract [which in todays market, he deserves] and it COULD happen. if hickey liked him before, then he probably still does, especially after seeing him get past the knee injury and play at a high level again.

as a poster said, we have the money, but would he come here? so many players say to their agent they dont want to play in this city or that and then they get blamed for not making a play or signing them. we have been a victim of that and probably have this year. he may tell his agent hes has no interest in miami at any price. but, if he is ok playing here and hickey wants him again [why wouldnt he] then there is a real chance!!

i dont think derrell wants to be here though. the pats have said they are interested and lets face it, derrells superbowl ring is much closer in new england than miami florida at this time.

When was the last time the Patriots under Kraft/Belicheat EVER spent gigantic money on outside defensive free agent? They signed Adalius Thomas in free agency that one year(and that blew up in their faces), but outside of that, I can't remember. They simply do not do it.

Revis goes to New England only if he takes the "I want to win the ring" discount. Otherwise, not happening.

Revis to the Patriots is all noise

thats what everyone said about RANDY MOSS.

billichek will pay the dough for BIG TIME talent. revis is still considered the very best cb in the nfl. the pats need db's.

this is more than noise.
