Hickey's BPA vs BOLA

Pittsburg drafting ahead of us may take Martin out of the equation anyways. I'd be tempted to go Mosley if that's the case though we may be able to trade back a few spots and still get him plus an extra pick.

My ideal top two picks would be Pryor, Ebron or Moseley at #1, and an OT who could play RT this year, and have the potential to move to LT in a couple of years. I'm still adding at least 2 OL vets on 1 year deals.

Moyok believes Pryor will end up being a SS in the NFL...does that change your opinion?

It does some, with us being locked into Jones. Can I go to wishful thinking on Clinton-Dix?

we scored 30 points once all season, and 7 combined in the final two games. the two players with the greatest chance of making an immediate impact on that are mike evans and eric ebron. trade up for either of them or trade down. zack martin at 19 is not the difference between 7-9 and 10-6.

My draft philosophy has always been BPA for a position of need. However, if there is clearly a BPA value pick there (meaning a true stud) you take him. You also don't over draft for a position of need, which is where Ireland got into trouble. I am not taking a linemen that I have given a second round grade to in round one just because it's a need position and the round one linemen are gone. I would either try and trade back if there wasn't anyone I really liked, or take my top player on my board at the time.

This ^^^^^^^

Moseley, Pryor, or Ebron would be hard for me to pass on for any on the OL.

Im with you on Moseley. Pryor is a baller, but I just dont see us taking him.

Don't agree so much with Ebron though. His athleticism is amazing, but the guy just doesn't have good enough hands. I am also a big Clay fan.

i hear people say Oline is deep this year, but are those oline a good scheme fit?
Not to you, truedolfan57
Is anyone else tired of reading about scheme fit? Get the best players. Adjust the scheme to your players. That's how teams win.

just remember that when it comes to BPA you have to take system into account
good point. it might be more useful to say "don't draft strictly on need". so many factors are there besides "best player":

if you have alot of cap committed to position A and alot less to Position B but you have equal needs at both, the BPA is an a and the next BPA is a B with a slightly lower grade. the choice is obvious right?

In the real world it would seem that you need to put need aside but consider many other things. especially when you have many needs.

I bet guys who are really good at drafting might have one need and still ignore it because....well they are good

when you are bad you bring in bullies and ******* and keep chasing your tail

Clay keeps being brought up in regards to Ebron and other TEs. The two are not mutually exclusive. Clay BENEFITS from another good TE.

BPA. Ebron or Mosley at 19. Either player will upgrade us.
1. Ebron/Mosley
2. Carlos Hyde
3. Chris Borland
4,5,6 - OG/OT - I would take a shot at OT Santiel Henderson in the late rounds. All the physical attributes. He could be a player once his brain matures.

So...if the BPA is available at a position of strength are you still supposed to draft them? Let's say DE? or QB?
