Yes, it's very concerning. The rumor is that in spite of the injury he continued to practice on a limited basis. But I doubt Spags lets him play if he's not close to 100%. Mathieu is too important to the defense to risk further injury in this game. Spags will do some kind of work-around using Fenton as the SS, along with Dan Sorenson on running/short yardage downs, and move Snead to the slot in nickel, is my guess.
This is all if Mathieu really doesn't play. Even if he does play, Spags could put him on a pitch count, and then the above sceanario would probably be the patch for the game.
