Hitting rock bottom may be just what this franchise needs...

I don't think hazing will be quite the same as player safety, but I definitely see league-mandated guidelines being issued after the NFL investigation.
The NFL has become about corporate appeal. Corporate America has strict policies against this. I expect hazing to be under a microscope.

Philbin may take the fall, but only if he's responsible for directing Cogs to "toughen up" Martin. Even then firing him might not be just, as they have to toughen up players every year. I'm sure they did the same thing with Egnew, and that appears to to be paying off for the team and for the player. I suppose it depends on specifically what the coaches knew regarding what was going on, and what exactly, if anything, the coaches told Cogs to do to "toughen up" Martin. Football has a culture of toughness by it's nature. Martin just doesn't seem to fit that culture. Fault???? Are we going to blame the coach for wanting to make his team tougher? Really??? I remember when Martin was drafted there were some that questioned his desire to play football. Maybe he just doesn't belong. No blame on him there. He tried a job that just doesn't fit him. And I'm not saying Cog's didn't go to far either. He did, but I'm leaning towards the media over-hyping this whole affair, especially the way the players in the locker room and around the NFL have responded.

Pulling for this franchise is like living a soap opera...Thank you Mr Ross & Thank you Mr Blockbuster. There is never a dull moment be it a losing streak or bullying scandal when it comes to the Miami Dolphins.

Shield=cash flow.

I disagree, I think Roger Goodell has been perfectly happy to tarnish the integrity of the league (see: Patriots videotaping scandal reaction) in order to protect his cash cow.

Now you can argue that sweeping things under the rug is protecting 'the shield,' but I suppose we just see that differently.

I'm going to be honest here, I don't know that I can pass judgment on Richie anymore. I have seen and heard much worse between friends, and if Richie truly felt that Jon was his friend, I do not believe he is the huge villain he is being portrayed as.

Is he a man with serious mental problems? YES. He is on medication for them, in fact. Is he a guy with anger control issues? YES. Is he a guy from a, shall we say, blue collar background who probably doesn't understand where all the lines are that he's crossing? YES.

But I can't help but think he HONESTLY thought he was Jon Martin's friend and that that's how a lot of these guys joke with their friends. Construction workers and athletes... I'm sorry, guys do talk like that. When I first heard that Richie had threatened Jon's parents, I was really upset, I thought it was some real raving psycho ****, but that transcript? I could definitely see that as him joking around

Thank you! When I heard the accusations of Incognito threatening Martin and using racist language, I was hoping to see the messages. Once I saw them, my first thought was "Who in their right mind would actually take this stuff seriously?" I saw nothing threatening nor racist whatsoever. I'd be willing to bet that the "N" word is spoken thousands of times in NFL locker rooms. I'd even be willing to bet that a lot of "white boys" pretending to be from the "hood" also use it, as evidenced by the video of Incognito at some club WITH black team mates! What about the music played at practices? I'm sure that there is a lot of rap and hip-hop played... and I'd bet that the "N" word is in some of those songs.

My opinion on the voice mails? Incognito is an idiot. He was told to get on Martin's butt and have him come to OTAs and work harder, and those are the messages he leaves? They're not threatening, they're not racist, they're just stupid. A little kid could come up with something better than that to urge Martin to show up for practice.

i disagree also with this team lacks leadership in the lockerroom...i have seen 8 games this season and i see no signs that on this team guys don't play for eachother or have eachothers backs...this team competes to the last whistle...teams that lack leadership and have poor coaching do not

i doubt it will be any different come monday night...these guys should rally around eachother take a it's us against the world mentality and shut all these talking heads talking out their asses up...

Oh yeah... I'm sure that Martin grew up as a little rich kid insulated from the "real" world. The NFL is probably his first taste of life in the "hood" or the Blue Collar world, and it's just not his cup of tea.

exactly...

We are somehow 4-4 despite all the crap that's going on. We actually must have some talent on this team to not be at the bottom of the league as dysfunctional as we appear to be in the locker room. I would argue that we were really close to being good, and this B.S is dragging down what could have been a pretty good team and season. Rock bottom is the wrong direction. As a Dolphins fan, after the way the season started with us at 3-0, it feels like we went to the bar and picked up the hottest woman in the place only to find out she was a he. Rock bottom sucks.

Fools gold. See me at week 17 and tell me how much talent is on this team.
