Hoops scoops...fins chargers

Its not just that play. Jones constantly gets run over, late to the ball, takes bad angles, etc.

he hasn't played well this year there's no doubt about it...pretty good tackle against gates with his face mask jammed back though...i don't think a lot of guys would have made that tackle...although they probably would have gone lower

good news hoops, wheeler looks very "cuttable" http://www.spotrac.com/nfl/miami-dolphins/cap-hit/2014/

that's his cap figure for next year but i don't see what the actual cap hit is if we cut him...that signing bonus split up over the length of the contract would have to be added in for one lump cap hit...he's got a low figure this year i'm thinking it's gotta be near $10 mil to get out if we do...

you've got $5.6 mil still left prorated in signing bonus...

* I thought the highlight of the game was the cheerleader at the 2 minute warning of the first half. Damn, she oozed sex appeal. Too many of our girls are bleached blondes who are nice looking but lack wow

* San Diego was the softest team we've played. Consequently I had a quiet confidence all game.

* Everyone rallied around the 6.5 wins. The franchise realized we couldn't afford to go into the final 6 games needing 3-3 instead of a more manageable 2-4

* We managed our 20 points again. It's hilarious how we maneuver to that level.

* Key play was the Grimes interception in the first quarter. That was on first down. Subsequently the Chargers seemed to be overly conservative in our end on early downs. They got to third down and we played more aggressively on defense, with blitz looks. If San Diego had remained aggressive on first down deep on our side of the field, I seriously doubt we win that game

* If I win the over 6.5 wins, I owe special thanks to the lughead Chargers defensive lineman who roughed Tannehill after Hartline fumbled, for a 7 point swing, and also to Keenan Allen for the equally lughead taunting foul after gaining a first down early in the third quarter. At 10-10 the next touchdown was pivotal, given that our bottom line always craps out near 20 points. Allen's bonehead play came when the Chargers were marching. Instead, he turned it into 2nd and 19. The breaks in this game were similar to the Colts game when we got the benefit of a very shaky call on Reggie Wayne early in the third quarter, a motion penalty that negated a touchdown and what would have been a 24-17 Indianapolis lead

* Wheeler is well known bad but the more I look at Ellerbe he's not much better. He's so slow and hesitant off the mark he often doesn't get anywhere near the collision point, making it look like it wasn't his fault. A middle linebacker with any instincts would have flowed there immediately.

* The crowd wasn't as bad as I expected. At least it was spread evenly

* Reshad Jones had his standard game. At least his speed is decent and he keeps hustling downfield to make a tackle. Otherwise it's brutal to watch. His tackling form is as weak as the rest of his game. Clemons stood up a Charger back and shoved him backward one play after Jones got knocked over on a similar play

that was a big grimes pick but the odd thing about it was vincent brown had won to the inside and had separated from grimes...with where the safety was on the play i think if it had been thrown to the inside that's an easy 6...i guess brown must have given an outside release look initially before redirecting back to the inside thus the ball was thrown where it was...if that wasn't the case it was a poor read and placement by rivers...

good points about that chargers team not being physical on d especially...very soft squad...manti teos a ghost and as i thought as a pro prospect more hype than substance...oline did a pretty good job against corey luigit that guy can play...

keenan allens already more a #1 wr than any of our guys...the only possible one that could achieve that down the road for us being mathews...mathews talent has always been there he just needed an opportunity for it to show...really like that kid

you get a guy like dj fluker miscast at left tackle you got to wear that out with the pass rush...pretty telling to me that we couldn't do more against him til late...

Man, Im so glad you mentioned this, cause it was the first thing I noticed at the game. I remember another member posting video showing how Pouncey looks up and to the right, before each snap. It was great to see offside penalties consistently, and not the like the Bucs defensive line jumping our snaps all the time. You can tell San Diego had the same thing in mind, but since they changed it up, got completely caught off guard.

If thats true it would also explain Jerry's false starts...

Panthers are allowing just 13 points a game and have the stingiest D in pretty much every category, although that might change a bit after tonight. Our D better be ready next week cause we'll be lucky to get to 20.

d's gonna have to carry us against the panthers if we are to win...pretty much the extent of it

I saw the Clemons stick too. Jones got trucked the previous play by Matthews and Clemons stood him up on the following play.

his cap hit in 2014 is 6.4M. his remaining signing bonus is 5.6M. So if my math is worth a damn, we actually would save 800k if we cut him.

We're going to have to - somehow - win the TO battle, and we have to make the most out of every opportunity on their side of the 50. That doesn't mean that we always need a TD, but it means that we have to claw for every inch. WR's have to be stronger over the middle than they have been to date.

Have to take our chances with 8 in the box. Have to shut down the run. Depending on Patterson's health, we should match up well with their WR's. Should put 8 in the box and Jordan on Olsen on base downs.

this is the game dion jordan needs to see a ton of snaps...no reason miami shouldn't have wake vernon and jordan on the field together this week...gonna need shelby also...if coyle only gives jordan spot duty he's failing us...period

dion jordans the only one that can limit cam wakes legs...

i bet charles johnsons leg stiffens up and he sits and if so that would be big...can roll the protection to hardys side if need be and or double the dts more...better tell these ball carriers to protect the football cause carolina is damn good at stripping it or making people cough it up on hard contact...

gotta get after that secondary somehow it's the weakness its just hard to get after when you run the ball like we do...be careful throwing the ball in luke kuechlys zip code especially underneath vs zone and down the seam vs man cause he will undercut it...

even if charles johnson plays i expect him to be limited...

This is the game Mike Wallace needs to break out in...needs a megatron game!

I don't think Mike Wallace is as bad as some people here think he is, but he's not even in the same weight class as Calvin Johnson. Calvin Johnson's catch radius is the size of supermarket produce section. Mike Wallace's catch radius is the size of a supermarket shopping basket.
