Its not just that play. Jones constantly gets run over, late to the ball, takes bad angles, etc.

Man, Im so glad you mentioned this, cause it was the first thing I noticed at the game. I remember another member posting video showing how Pouncey looks up and to the right, before each snap. It was great to see offside penalties consistently, and not the like the Bucs defensive line jumping our snaps all the time. You can tell San Diego had the same thing in mind, but since they changed it up, got completely caught off guard.
* We managed our 20 points again. It's hilarious how we maneuver to that level.
* I thought the highlight of the game was the cheerleader at the 2 minute warning of the first half. Damn, she oozed sex appeal. Too many of our girls are bleached blondes who are nice looking but lack wow
* San Diego was the softest team we've played. Consequently I had a quiet confidence all game.
* Everyone rallied around the 6.5 wins. The franchise realized we couldn't afford to go into the final 6 games needing 3-3 instead of a more manageable 2-4
* We managed our 20 points again. It's hilarious how we maneuver to that level.
* Key play was the Grimes interception in the first quarter. That was on first down. Subsequently the Chargers seemed to be overly conservative in our end on early downs. They got to third down and we played more aggressively on defense, with blitz looks. If San Diego had remained aggressive on first down deep on our side of the field, I seriously doubt we win that game
* If I win the over 6.5 wins, I owe special thanks to the lughead Chargers defensive lineman who roughed Tannehill after Hartline fumbled, for a 7 point swing, and also to Keenan Allen for the equally lughead taunting foul after gaining a first down early in the third quarter. At 10-10 the next touchdown was pivotal, given that our bottom line always craps out near 20 points. Allen's bonehead play came when the Chargers were marching. Instead, he turned it into 2nd and 19. The breaks in this game were similar to the Colts game when we got the benefit of a very shaky call on Reggie Wayne early in the third quarter, a motion penalty that negated a touchdown and what would have been a 24-17 Indianapolis lead
* Wheeler is well known bad but the more I look at Ellerbe he's not much better. He's so slow and hesitant off the mark he often doesn't get anywhere near the collision point, making it look like it wasn't his fault. A middle linebacker with any instincts would have flowed there immediately.
* The crowd wasn't as bad as I expected. At least it was spread evenly
* Reshad Jones had his standard game. At least his speed is decent and he keeps hustling downfield to make a tackle. Otherwise it's brutal to watch. His tackling form is as weak as the rest of his game. Clemons stood up a Charger back and shoved him backward one play after Jones got knocked over on a similar play
his cap hit in 2014 is 6.4M. his remaining signing bonus is 5.6M. So if my math is worth a damn, we actually would save 800k if we cut him.that's his cap figure for next year but i don't see what the actual cap hit is if we cut him...that signing bonus split up over the length of the contract would have to be added in for one lump cap hit...he's got a low figure this year i'm thinking it's gotta be near $10 mil to get out if we do...
you've got $5.6 mil still left prorated in signing bonus...
d's gonna have to carry us against the panthers if we are to win...pretty much the extent of it
We're going to have to - somehow - win the TO battle, and we have to make the most out of every opportunity on their side of the 50. That doesn't mean that we always need a TD, but it means that we have to claw for every inch. WR's have to be stronger over the middle than they have been to date.
Have to take our chances with 8 in the box. Have to shut down the run. Depending on Patterson's health, we should match up well with their WR's. Should put 8 in the box and Jordan on Olsen on base downs.
This is the game Mike Wallace needs to break out in...needs a megatron game!
