when i did my scoops oline draft targets and grades thread in march which you can find here and in looking back now i would probably say after having seen the entire class for the most part i may have graded guys like michael schofield , jawaun james on the pass pro prowess and trai turner on the upside a round too low and maybe chris watt a round too high and leaving off a potential day 3 developmental tackle in the canadien kid tardif who must develop strength before he can play for you...

http://www.finheaven.com/showthread...2014-oline-draft-prospects-targets-and-grades

i had pulled kaoundjio out of consideration cause i had heard that he had a knee issue which would now allow him to play football in 2014...it appears that was overblown and so i wanted to go back and do a pure tape evaluation of his game and if he fits what we want in an offensive tackle and is a worthy top 20 pick consideration and first round grade...let's get to it...

6 ft 7 322 lbs 35 5/8 inch arms 10 1/4 inch hands 21 reps of 225 lbs...5.56 40

after 2012 i thought the kid was a future top 10 pick from what i saw even though i had never actually keyed him...well all i can say is my bad on that one...after taking a more in depth look at the player i have to say i wonder what i was thinking...

he shows issues vs both speed and power...gets stood up and rocked too much by power up under his pad level and walked back and struggles to recover and anchor...slow off the snap and into his kick slide and struggles with speed off the corner unless he can get his long arms out on a guy and push him past the qb...feet look heavy in pass pro...

loses leverage battles cause he's too high in the run game...does not show in space well period...run blocking is inconsistent has trouble maintaining blocks and contact...has trouble moving laterally to the 2nd level and falls off almost lumbering with his movements...best in a straight line with a straight ahead target where he can physically maul people...inconsistent cut blocker has trouble with a moving target cuts air...10 foot box tackle

plays too erect off the snap and doesnt show very good lateral quickness or knee bend...will flat blow a sight adjustment call on a free edge blitzer...

on the plus side he is only 20 years old so there's plenty of room for development of strength and technique and he has dropped 11 lbs down to 311 which will help with the athleticism and foot speed etc i'd say...there's meat on the bone here for sure but the same athlete i see on tape well it matches up with the combine performance as well which was underwhelming...

don't like the fit for zone frankly cause i don't see the athlete for it...power scheme right tackle or kick inside guard...games more of that of a mauler where his sheer size can engulf...must get stronger and play with better leverage..on the ground a lot cause he lacks athleticism on the move...repeatedly off balance or lunging in space...

frankly i'm dissappointed...there's no way i can validate a first round grade here or a top 20 pick for miami...now here's the worst of it...i believe that this is the primary target for miami at pick 19 or in a trade down...just my gut feel...i hope i'm wrong...

Hoops, i can't and don't see us drafting a RT@19, and especially one who's not a scheme fit. But, like you, i could be wrong. I don't think i am though.

Good job, yet again. You mention James, who I know nothing about. The only place anywhere I have seen him graded as a first rounder is by the Dolphins. Justified or a reach/mistake?

Mayock has us reaching for him out of desperation basically which is my biggest fear we do something in panic mode. His back up plan is WR or higher rated player at another position which I agree with.

I beleive Hickey will go BPA according to his board. Thats why I really dont have a clue as far as who we will pick unless Martin is there at 19. Martin is too valuable.

I also tend to think we may have some dance partners to trade down. That is where getting the RT we covet makes sense and then get another pick or two.

I dont think Koundjio is anywhere in our minds at this point at 19. I still think Seantrel Henderson is still a 3rd/4th rounder for some reason. Too much talent to just blindly decline because he got dehydrated and had a bad hair day. It happens. Too deep a draft IMO at OL too. Perfect for us. I think Hickey has James and Moses ahead of Kujo

This is a sign to me that no one really has a clue who we will end up picking.

I know Cyrus K. is our first round pick in many mocks, but you have to wonder about his knee and lack of knee bend. Also it seems to me that Alabama players reach their full potential at Alabama, and they don't seem to improve much in the NFL. I think we have better options at #19.

right now off what i know if zach martin gets to me i'm turning in the card at #19 it's unlikely now though...after that if cj mosley gets to me and his medical is a go i'm turning in that card at 19...otherwise i'm looking to trade out...later into round 1...mid 20ish...25-28 range try and collect at least a 3rd rounder in the process maybe more

I do not think he is in the mix at all. Not a fit.

I don't know how a big RT with an arthritic knee would fit in our zone blocking scheme. I also don't see any sense in taking a guy that's suppose to be a 2nd rounder(james). I just hope these are stupid rumors, other wise I'll just wait till Hickey and Philbin are gone and we start over again.

I think you forgot to mention turning in your card at #19 for Ryan Shazier if he gets to us...:chuckle:

Hickey will quickly feel the way Ireland felt if this is the direction he goes. I will be livid and dumbfounded.

Especially considering a "source" leaked it weeks ago. The "leak" shouldn't be a consideration whether true or not but the fans will have the pitchforks out either way.

i wouldn't turn it in at 50 if it was to try and fill our biggest need in our lb core i can tell ya that...you guys can go gaga about that athlete and playmaking all you want at the end of the day 43 lb play is about instincts and awareness...i'm not waiting to see if he ever develops it...especially when the other guys in the current unit cant carry him in that regard

I did my own Mock draft and I dont have any of the 4 top tackles available at 19. I see a trade-down or BPA WR being taken. My guess with no trade down is M. Lee WR. Otherwise it will be a reach pick. If reach pick then maybe Sua Filo OG. He may also be able to play RT.
