How about a Brown for Rivers trade?

I think the statement that you cant build a championship team on a running game is wrong. I think if you look at most of the Champs over the history of football at any level a strong running game is key. Afterall when you boil all the modern day crap away its still just rugby.

Payton, who was jim mcmahon

Csonk Merc, Griese (im a homer but we all know)

Franco Harris>bradshaw

Lombardi Packers, hell vince was one of the Fordham blocks of granite his entire O was based on the play of the guards in the running game

Emmit (leading rusher of all time)>troy boy

Elway never did squat until TD and the bada$$ running game came along. But I'll give that one to the QB

Jamal and the Ravens> who TF was the QB there...Dilfer?

There are the instances of Montana, Farve, and the recent Rams but a football coach looking for a successful passing atttack is rare and usually unsucessful for instance Dan, the run & shoot and the K gun. Most times they are looking to build an O line that can run block and a premier RB to put behind that line. That is the foundation of any championship football team.

First off, that would be a hard trade to pull off. Why would the Chargers want a high priced, unproven, rookie RB when they have a high priced all-pro RB already? Furthermore, I doubt they would want to eat the cap hit trading Rivers away would bring. That bonus money he got last year would go against their cap this season, which means they wouldnt have the cap room to pay Ronnie. Its a trade that cant be done.

From our perspective, what is the point in trading a top prospect at RB away for a QB that will be on the trading block next year anyway? Either Brees or Rivers will be available next year, and all it will take to get one of them is a number 1 pick, maybe a mid round pick, and a good player. I could see us sending AJ, our number 1 pick, and a mid-late round pick to the chargers for Brees or Rivers, IF AJ doesnt work out. That would leave us with Ronnie and a potential franchise QB in Rivers or Brees.

Right now is not the time to make that trade.

No way this happens, San Diego is way too happy with their QB situation. I think they're going for a super bowl run and plan on trading one of the QB's after this year.

With Ron Brown wanting a big guaranteed contract, wouldn't we be better off paying a QB like Rivers the big bucks. Brown would be a back-up to Tomlinson in San Diego.

um...no. :shakeno:

Do you really think San Diego wants to pay two runningbacks big bucks?

Ronnie Browns a Dolphin.

You want to trust the Dolphins future to Ricky Williams?????

How are things in Pittsburgh, Dave?

We cant trade Brown....we need a RB now considering Ricky could always disappear or fail another drug test....I think we need to give Gus and AJ a shot this year...and if our QB situation doesnt improve then maybe we will have a shot at Leinart or Omar Jacobs next year.

THIS IS THE DUMBEST POST I HAVE EVER READ.

people need to think before writing down crap.

THE CHARGERS JUST SIGNED LT TO A LONG TERM DEAL.
He is the best RB in the league.

WHY WOULD THEY NEED ANOTHER RB.

God some of you guys are total jerks. The dude just made a suggestion and you act as if he commited a crime. Get over yourselves and stop acting so superior. Not everyone knows exactly everything about football. Sometimes someone doesn't see or know all the angles that other people see or know, that's part of the reason we have this message board, so that people can pose questions and scenarios and get responses.

Unless they are insulting in their post, I don't think anyone has the right to be so insulting in their responses. Can any of you honestly say that you have never asked a question that to others seemed stupid?

I'd do it for Rivers, Sproles, and Gates, and only if Rivers took a pay cut.

OK I was gonna chew you out for this but writting like a sane person actually works better, (some of you guys should try this for once).

Like that Bills fan said its an intresting idea, But It just wont happen. Both guys have potential and they will both be badasses in the league. We'd would have to offer San Diego alot to get Rivers or Brees.

If we trade Ronnie who do we have Ricky? Hell no we are gonna trade him eventually, besides alot of people trust him. Then theres Gordon who has what it takes to be a starter, but he wont start for us. Then there's Minor, Morris, and KJ and we dont know if who of that group will make the team.
