I think the statement that you cant build a championship team on a running game is wrong. I think if you look at most of the Champs over the history of football at any level a strong running game is key. Afterall when you boil all the modern day crap away its still just rugby.
Payton, who was jim mcmahon
Csonk Merc, Griese (im a homer but we all know)
Franco Harris>bradshaw
Lombardi Packers, hell vince was one of the Fordham blocks of granite his entire O was based on the play of the guards in the running game
Emmit (leading rusher of all time)>troy boy
Elway never did squat until TD and the bada$$ running game came along. But I'll give that one to the QB
Jamal and the Ravens> who TF was the QB there...Dilfer?
There are the instances of Montana, Farve, and the recent Rams but a football coach looking for a successful passing atttack is rare and usually unsucessful for instance Dan, the run & shoot and the K gun. Most times they are looking to build an O line that can run block and a premier RB to put behind that line. That is the foundation of any championship football team.
