I have been around football over forty years, gus made very good decisions god booker play was huge, he got away from pressure and made a sixty yard throw flat footed that should have been caught by a lazy wideout, not for nothing but if that was moss or TO it was a big play, how many drops did guys have on good plays, he is our best QB now there is no doubt about it

Right now, nobody is our best QB. Unless somebody starts stepping it up here big time and prove themselves from the others this team will be in trouble.

I agree. Frerotte was off target on a few passes last night and forced a couple of them, but if you look at the vital aspects of the position no question he is our best QB right now. Frerotte has better pocket feel and nimbleness. He has much more variety of pace and loft. He defaults first to the big downfield play, not the tinkerbell two yarders that Feeley thrills to attempt.

Hey Bonedoc, dang you were a quick study! Been around football more than 40 years at age 41.

i agree.... The receivers and backs dropped and caughed up the ball way to many times. AJ had short dumps cuz there wasnt anything downfield. Gus couldnt have thrown it any better... so manydrops that his the receivers right in the hands. TURNOVERS WERE KEY TO THIS GAME. Both QBs dished the ball... and were let down by "playmakers"

I think the problem was more with the fumbles than with anything. Granted, the line played bad, but he needs to hang on to the ball.

I agree, gus did ok under the cicumstances. We need to mass protect against a team like the steelers. Obviously, this offense was bland for a reason. If any of you think Linehan is going to show anything this preseason, your crazy. That O was so bland. We didnt throw anything at them. You can bet that we will show flashed next week at home. I would not be surprised to see Frerrote start that game as well. Saban is not stupid.

Lazy receiver? your 40 years hasnt taught you much. I thought the same thing when I first saw it. Then I saw the actual replay and saw teh DB knock the ball away. But hey like I said facts.

wideouts have to go up and get the ballk, i dd not see that with booker and mcmicheal they were lazy

If Booker didn't go up for the ball and the DB did, then yes he is lazy.

McMichael did drop some, but he underthrew that pass to Booker. Granted Booker should have come up with it, but to say he could not have thrown it better is BS. He still is probably our best QB, but he did not look good by any means. A few of those "drops" were behind the wr. GRANTED they should have caught them, but not perfect throws. GUS did not look good.

Does anyone know if he has small hands? The missed snap, the fumble, and in the other games where the ball "slipped" it just seems like his hands are too small for the ball!?

You can call Marty Booker many things - old, slow, even boring - but lazy isnt the word that comes to mind.

maybe lazy isn't the right word but they were definitely not into the game. Looks like the whole team was not into the game. Must have something to do with camp saban ending this past week.

Thank you for injecting this bit of sanity into the thread. I cannot believe that Booker is getting dogged on a poor throw where HE WENT UP FOR THE BALL JUST LIKE THE DB DID but the DB got the hand in there. I just got to this play, so I'm not commenting on any Booker plays after it at this point. Booker got hosed by Gus in the game, though. Frerotte threw a bunch of garbage his way, and Booker wasn't quite able to pull his butt out of the fire on it.

I don't really get how you can call Booker old, btw.
