How can anyone say frerotte was bad

wideouts have to go up and get the ballk, i dd not see that with booker and mcmicheal they were lazy
Did you see the wideout try and go up and get the ball when AJ threw his only INT of the preseason?

I agree. Frerotte was off target on a few passes last night and forced a couple of them, but if you look at the vital aspects of the position no question he is our best QB right now. Frerotte has better pocket feel and nimbleness. He has much more variety of pace and loft. He defaults first to the big downfield play, not the tinkerbell two yarders that Feeley thrills to attempt.

Hey Bonedoc, dang you were a quick study! Been around football more than 40 years at age 41.

Incorrect assessment. It was Feeley in the first game that was throwing 10 yd passes first and looking for the dinks second. It was Frerotte who was dinking and dunking in the first game. What did that get Feeley - the bench. Feeley learned quick after that

I must admit, at first i was totally against frerotte starting, but i have come around a bit. I think we are best off having him start.

I have been around football over forty years, gus made very good decisions god booker play was huge, he got away from pressure and made a sixty yard throw flat footed that should have been caught by a lazy wideout, not for nothing but if that was moss or TO it was a big play, how many drops did guys have on good plays, he is our best QB now there is no doubt about it

Gee, I wonder who you'd like to have as our starter....
I don't know, you may be right, but don't post that a day after what we saw last night. Go into hiding with teh other Gusketeers for at least a couple of days.

McMichael did drop some, but he underthrew that pass to Booker. Granted Booker should have come up with it, but to say he could not have thrown it better is BS. He still is probably our best QB, but he did not look good by any means. A few of those "drops" were behind the wr. GRANTED they should have caught them, but not perfect throws. GUS did not look good.

Does anyone know if he has small hands? The missed snap, the fumble, and in the other games where the ball "slipped" it just seems like his hands are too small for the ball!?

He made the best possible pass he could have to booker. He escaped the pressure going to his left stopped completely and threw the ball as far as he could while getting killed in the process. I was at the game and even the steelers fans were talking about how that was a nice way to get out of pressure and make that throw. The steelers fans didnt say anything about how gus did bad they were all talking about how our recievers cant catch. All Gus can do is get the ball there but he cant catch it for the recievers too. Gus had a solid game in exception to the fumble but that doesnt bother me to much everyone makes some mistakes. I am sure Payton fumbled the ball before. I am not comparing gus to payton but it happens to everyone. Gus is the starting quarterback for this football team.

I didn't see the game, just read about it, but how come none of you Gus supporters are mentioning the fumbles he had. Ignoring it aren't you? Thats what I thought. Please don't choose to ignore his huge mistakes, regardless of the blitzing. He screwed up bad. Now let Feeley practice with the first team and play the first half of the next game before we start comparing who is the better quaterback. I still say bringin in Couch is worth a shot.

I think you make a good point about the first fumble, but that second one looked like a Seth special to me.

Good Post, right on the money. Hey guys, Eli Manning Fumbled the ball that was returned for a TD last night, should they sit him now.

This about says it all :
"On the offensive side of the ball Gus Frerotte looked like a career backup. He completed less than 50% of his passes and seemed to be off the mark on even the easiest of throws. The culmination of his sub par effort was a pass that he threw at the ankles of his right tackle Stockar McDougle. There was a little pressure on him, but he didn't even attempt to scramble or throw to an eligible receiver. It was really very pathetic."

That enough for you.

Nice point not one person said Newsome didn't make an effort to break up that pass and they harped on how he should have thrown another if the db could have stayed inbounds.
Funny how no one has posted the fact that Gus " SHOULD HAVE THROWN ONE IF THE DB STAYS INBOULD ALSO "

Let the best man win but be fair about praise/critcism

I didn't get to see the game but... it's pre-season and the team has a lot of NEW factors in it on top of having one of the worst seasons last year in along time. So you have to figure that there's alot of pressure on them while there trying to learn alot of NEW things and at the same time find a way to play as a team. WE ALL need to think about that and try to be patient with them. And I agree I don't think Saban is not showing us or anyone else what he has in mind on how this team will play...I think he is just having a look see at the players.

I will say that he was not better than Feely.
