Because in the new defensive shceme DB have less importance than the DL and LB. Just look at the Pats, they won a Super Bowl with a R. Gay and a WR as DBs. They had a good front with Traylor, Wilfork and Seymour and very good LB ... and of course DT make less money than DB.

Traylor is only signed for one year, so if we sign Simon to a long term deal, we can put more of the money into the 2nd year of the contract so that when all of these one year guys come off the books we can carry the simon contract. Is this close to the reality?

Clumpy just wondering how much of a bonus and what kind of deal would you expect. Also how far under our we because remember Simon wants to be paid. He couldn't work out a deal with the Ravens the before the draft when Philly would have traded him and now he turned down a 1 year 5.19 million offer because he wants a long term deal. He is gonna still want a huge signing bonus to sign here.
