How crowded and loud does Dolphins Stadium Get?

Let me add a different perspective on this as well.

As part of the crowd in a packed house, Dolphins Stadium can get pretty damn loud. Obviously not as loud as a dome, but still loud.

Now, if you ever get a chance to be on the sidelines during a packed game, for lack of a better term, it's a different kind of loud.

When your part of the crowd, it's really an abrupt cheer that you are a part of. When your on the field, it's like a wave of noise that moves toward and around you. It's hard to describe, but since you are not part of the cheering when on the field, the manor in which you hear it all around you can leave you in awe. It's like a fast moving wave of cheering that engulfs you almost instantly.

If you have been in awe with the noise level at Joe Robbie Stadium you would have had a heartattack at the Orange Bowl.

I've had season tix in both stadiums and I can tell you first hand that the loudest it's ever gotten at Joe Robbie is nothing more than a whisper when compared to the noise levels the Orange Bowl's closed end zone would reach.

I really miss that place

Yes I know it was old and has many drawbacks but it was a great home field.

I few times I got to sit in the closed end zone, center, four rows from the field rail and I swear it got so loud my eyes blurred.

I've been able to go to all but one game in the Orange Bowl, and it was UM vs FSU in 2002 (Wide left)

Anyways, I know what you mean. When you have that enclosed area to you back, it's crazy.

Another big difference between the OB and DS...... It gets soooooo much damn hotter on field at OB than at DS, and you would think since the OB has the open area you'd get a breeze once in a while but you get nothing.

I remember it well.

Even louder was a Monday night game against the Eagles in the early 80's. They came in with like a 10-1 record and were beaten by the Dolphins.

At one point the game was stopped for over 7 minutes due to continuous, deafening, fan noise.

I was hoarse for 3 days.

I was at that game. Jaworski was the Eagles QB. At one point he had to back away from the line like 3 times in a row, because the signals couldn't be heard. Of course each time he did this it got louder. When they finally got the play off he threw an interception. That was a classic Dolphin/OB memory.:clap::clap:

Nothing like The Orange Bowl used to be,that was a home field
advantage!!!!

My first major game in Miami was in the Orange Bowl. It damn near scared me. That is where we should be playing. That was so awsome!!!! miss it. I go to Joe Robbie and am very disappointed. Denver and minnesota are real loud but KC is the best. They all wear red, chant the same thing at the same time and are just plain crazy about their chiefs. I think to many upperclass snots are there to be seen and could care less abou the game. We did the luxury box once and people were gambling at the tables inside during the game! Nuts.

I've never gotten to see Miami play in their home stadiums, the only game I have ever been able to attend was vs the Vikes in the Metrodome 2 yrs ago (the game we lost on the 53yd FG). That place was goin nuts from the time I walked in until I finally got out of the dome. Up until the FG that won the game for the Vikes I had a blast there. The fans were cool, we talked trash to one another but it was all in fun.

I think our stadium sucks for noise and for watching a game, to be honest. The design for baseball is part of the problem. If they had built a football only stadium, they could have put the fans on top of the field and tightened the stadium up to enhance the noise level and excitement. I think that's part of the problem with fan interest at the games.

As several have noted, the OB rocked. I was there for a 1985 playoff game against the Browns - we were down 21-3 and came back to win 24-21. It was incredibly loud during that comeback.

I went to a lot of games in Buffalo in the 70's and it was also a loud stadium. It was always so cold. I think the cold, unless it gets really extreme, can get the blood flowing and get fans really pumped.

It doesn't get very loud. And there are usually lots of opposing fans in the crowd, in part because Miami makes such a popular road trip for them. The worst experience for me was during a Jets' game, when I was in a section that was almost entirely Jets fans. I got booed whenever I was walking to or from my seat.

I would recommend trying to get good seats from a ticket agency, or off e-bay. In the better seats, you are more likely to be surrounded by Dolphins' fans, and it makes the experience much better. If you are in the nosebleed seats, you will be accompanied by lots of visiting fans, and that blows.

Another point - the most intimidating stadium I've been in is Neland Stadium in Knoxville. Went to a UT-Arkansas game there several years ago. The stadium is very tall from the field and when a big play happens it's an overwhelming wave of sound that builds and explodes. Plus that crowd is just a sea of orange and white.

IMO, college crowds are much louder and more excited than pro crowds. There are a few crowds that are probably close to a college atmosphere (Denver, Buffalo), but, in general, you can't match a winning, traditional college team's fans for passion.

I only went to a couple of games at the orange bowl, when I was realy young, but those were the days. Being a little kid there was so much fun, taking in the whole experience. Now at Dolphins Stadium it is overrun by opposing fans, but until more dolphins fans buy tickets it isn't going to change. Miami is a melting pot area and people from all over the US live here. I actually hate going to the Jets games down here b/c there are so many NY'ers who live here so they flood the gates at the stadium. But I am sitting in the upper endzone where there are lots of dolphins season ticket holders, and I like it so much more. The lower seats are great for a good view but there isn't much excitement down there(and this isn't everywhere down below, just the majority). I really wish we were back at the OB, b.c then we could have some home-field advantage. Until some more fans buy tickets we aren't going to have that at DS..

:yeahthat:

Been in the upper corner since I bought season tickets. I've sat in the club level a few times and the seats are awesome but the fans dont get off their ***. Diehards sit up top.
