They did win the SB in 1999, right? SL's O gets all the credit but they had a big time D(something Miami hasn't truly been since the 70s) that gave up 22 points to TB & Ten in the NFC Title Game and SB.
hehe. guy, you give st. louis' defense of that era too much credit. like they say, the best defense is a great offense, and the rams had the best offense. luckily for them, they weren't totally incompetent on the defensive side of the ball, like the colts, but their defensive prowess was statistical, if that's where you're drawing things from. oh and giving up 6 points to shaun king... that's sounds about right. a shaun king led offense was never a juggernaut.
the dolphins have had similarly dominating defenses statistically in the past several years, namely 1998, 2000, and 2002, but hasn't recently had the offense to assist.
give dan marino a break, besides 1999, he was the king. even in jimmy johnson patented handcuffing offense that he ran in miami, run, run, let marino try to get us a first down - pass, punt, marino still got things done.
