How sad is it that we've come full circle?

We have just as many holes on this team now as we did when the Dallas regime took over.

QB, OG, OT, WRs (plural), TE, DE/OLB, Safety...we probably need RB as well considering how injury prone our backs seem to be. if we give Bush the same workload we gave him last season he's pretty much a lock to get hurt.

i dont know what's sadder...that we have just as many needs now as we did in 08....or the fact that the GM who's failed us the last 4 years is still here lol smh.

Dood, we'd be worse off if we still had Randy Mueller drafting. Hopefully Ireland improves or we find someone new next year.

c'est la vie

Accuracy you say? Yeah, the Ravens would agree with that if you factor in their defense: 1TD, 4ints. That's what a noodle arm will get you and statistically has always gotten him vs Top 10 scoring Ds.

Perhaps you missed the first 2 games in Sept 09: 1 TD, 2Ints. In other words, against formidible teams like Balt, Atl and Indy in the calendar year 09 "CP10" was 0-3, with 2 TDs and 6Ints. So not so fast on drinking that purple koolade when it comes to keeping formidable LBs and DBs honest.

Interceptions in the playoff game had nothing to do with a noodle arm, but lack of pass protection and running game. He still kept us competitive in that game until Ted Gin Fumbled the reverse late in the 4th. You can't judge how he played the whole season by one playoff game against a team that went to the AFC championship game.

Do you not remember the '09 game against Indianapolis where he kept the ball for over 45 minutes scoring almost every time we had the ball and keeping Peyton Manning off the field? Our defense with poor tackling failed us in that game, giving up TDs in minutes after every long scoring drive we had.

If the other teams don't show up we might win some games.

We are light years ahead of 1-15. I already like Philbin a lot. He is going to be a good coach.

Look at the bright side. As bad as Ireland is, he didn't trade to get Tebow. :d-day:

Seriously, with FA and the salary cap, no team is going to be able to fill all its holes ever, and as soon as they find somebody for A, they'll likely have a new one pop-up at B. It seems to me that if the Fins can avoid doing the really stupid thing of reaching for Tannehill at #8, they have a chance to get a starting OG, OT or WR at #8. DeCastro OG, Rieff or Martin at OT or Floyd at WR should all be on the board and any of them should be a starter on the Fins in 2012, something that Tannehill wouldn't be ready for in 2012 if ever.

Take a developmental QB later. Who knows, maybe Tannehill will be there in the 2nd if the pro GMs aren't nearly as enamored of him as the media analysts are. Personally, I wouldn't waste anything more than a 4th rounder on a guy who wasn't even good enough to be a backup QB at Texas A&M his first two years. It's not like TAM is knee deep in NFL QB prospects every year.

Cam Wake is better than Joey Porter.

Prime or no prime, Cam Wake is a more complete LB than Porter ever was.

What?
Go look this up : how many players in NFL history have 90+ sacks and 10+ interceptions? Porter is one of the most explosive and dynamic 3-4 OLBs of the last 25 years. On the Dolphins alone, he had 32 sacks in 3 years including a defensive MVP type season in 08. Not to mention his leadership qualities.

Wake has had one dominant year and one decent year in his short NFL career as a starter. I like him a lot, but let's take a step back and think before we compare a two year starter who may yet be a flash in the pan to a perennial pro bowler.

While it is quick to compare the entire team as a whole. It is too simplistic. I suggest breaking it into four categories: top talent on offense, top talent on defense, defensive core, offensive core, and bottom of the roster. 2008 top off: Chad Pennington, Ronnie Brown, Ricky Williams, and Jake Long. 2011 top off: Reggie Bush and Jake long. -- 2008 top def: Joey Porter, Randy Starks, and Y. Bell. 2011 top def: Randy Starks, Came Wake, Paul Soliai, Karlos Dansby, and Vontae Davis. 2008 core off: A. Fasano, Greg Camarillo, Davone Bess, Vernon Carey, and Justin Smiley. 2011 core off: Brian Hartline, Davone Bess, Pouncey, A. Fasano, and C. Clay. Unfortunately, I have to run. If you finish this line of thinking, then your conclusion should be our offense is comparable, but our defense,is better.

So both of you are saying that there is no difference between the current team and the franchise historic 1-15 team of 2007? They are on par, correct?

Yes, 6-10 is better than 1-15. Thanks for pointing that out. Unfortunately for your straw man argument, I never once compared this team to the 2007 team, I compare it to the 2008 team which was headed by the Parcells regime.

In 2008 (even with Pennington) we had needs at QB, WR, TE, OG, C, S, CB, and LB.

It's now 2012... Follow me so far? We now have needs at QB, WR, TE, OG, RT, S, LB, and DE.

Facts.

Or opinions
one could argue that they they can roll with what they have at TE, OG, S and LB.
also, it could be said the needs at WR and DE are largely because of new schemes, not the inability to find talent

when the Dallas regime took over, they took over the 2007 roster. That is what the OP stated. Those are the facts.

You're arguing semantics. The majority of the needs he mentioned were needs in 2007 AND 2008, and are certainly needs now. You appear to be maintaining that we no longer have those needs, and I'm not understanding why.
