How sad is it that we've come full circle?

None of those are needs, if you want to go 6-10 again.

thanks for your in-depth analysis
I say Clay and Fasano could be adequate if used better than last year, especially because Clay seemed to provide a seam-threat late last year. would another true receiving threat at TE like Fleenor be a nice addition? of course, but imo, it's not a dire need
as far as guard, between Jerry, Garner and Hicks, one of three can play well enough to handle the RG position.
at safety it's Culver, Clemons and Jones with a good chance of Marshall moving into the rotation. imo, Jones and Marshall wouldn't be terrible.
Wake, Dansby and Burnett are a good line-up in a 4-3. Misi has disappointed, but he was part of a very good defense last year and it wouldn't be a disaster to have to go with the same group again.
the need at WR was created mainly because of the Marshall trade, which again I believe was as much about him not fitting in the WCO as anything. we have heard from Philbin about what type of receivers he wants and we will no doubt be looking for at least one in the draft. the need isn't because everyone sucks, it's because a change in style is coming.
there is a need for another pass-rusher and with the 4-3 being used more often a DE is probably the target.
again, these are my opinons. I'm not going to promote them as facts, but I think they are reasonable arguments

I think one of the things many fans overlook is he fact that Ireland had to turn over an entire team since taking over as GM of the Dolphins. With the release of Bell and the possible departure of Carey, Miami only has 3 players on the roster that were around for 1-15: Paul Soliai, John Denney, and Brandon Fields. A nose tackle, a long snapper, and a punter. The team Miami will be forever compared to by virture of passing on Matt Ryan, the Atlanta Falcons, still feature plenty of contrubtors from their previous regime. Stars like Roddy White and John Abraham, role players like Redman, Mughelli, Snelling, Blalock, Clabo, McClure, Babineaux, Nicholas, and finally their franchise player Brent Grimes. Even though it's only 10 players, that is still 19% of the Falcon's roster that features their #1 WR, 1# DE, 1# CB and 3/5 of the offensive line.

There are plenty of valid reasons to dislike the job Ireland has done, but to say that the team they are fielding right now is worse than before Ireland could not be farther from the truth.

Guys this team has had THREE straight losing seasons with each season being eliminated from the playoffs sooner than the previous.... Are we really defending Ireland here? really? really? hahaha

We have needs at alot of positions.I still feel like we have needs at CB because Manning isnt "The Answer".Thats 1 more spot to the list.

Last three years prove phins are an average team. Defense has chance to be good again this year. The reason defense is not great is two: Need great Safeties and another pass rushers. This results in good teams outscoring us especially the ones in our division.

The offense is average and has too many holes and does not score enough points. too many sacks allowed; too many field goals (when you have a pro bowl kicker that means offense sucks). We should look at the last 4 years of drafts and the first 3 rounds in each (thats 12 picks) and see what and who has ireland picked to improve the offense. the offense needs playermakers. Lets see if philbin can teach GM a few things about offense.

Drafts 2011
1. Pouncey (helped our Running game)
2. thomas (injured too much and not a playmaker but solid) (I think we did not have a second because of MArshall who is gone)
3. Traded it to get thomas

2010 Draft
1. Odrick (good defensive pick but injured for a whole year
2. did not have a second cause of marshall (Traded down to get one)
2. KOA Misi (good run stopper but not a defensive playmaker (may be going to jail)
3. John Jerry (OL that is a backup) again not a playmaker and we need playmakers

So where I am going with all this and why I think we are average n Offense (the offensive drafts for the last 4 years have been horendous with not a single offensve playmaker!)
PRevious picks Henne (backup in JAx) not a playmaker; langford (DT starter but now off the team); V. Davis (great defe playmaker but we need offensive playmakers); Pat White (dont need to say anything)
Sean Smith (Good def QB but not an off playmaker); Patrick Turner (did not start or make the team); Jake Long (great OL pick but not an off playmaker; Merling a Def bust;

I am not saying Ireland has done a great job, but the statement that we have come full circle is ludicrous.

We have just as many holes on this team now as we did when the Dallas regime took over.

QB, OG, OT, WRs (plural), TE, DE/OLB, Safety...we probably need RB as well considering how injury prone our backs seem to be. if we give Bush the same workload we gave him last season he's pretty much a lock to get hurt.

i dont know what's sadder...that we have just as many needs now as we did in 08....or the fact that the GM who's failed us the last 4 years is still here lol smh.
I agree with most of your points except for TE. We can also get by with Matt Moore at least 1 more year.

Well, you're comparing apples to oranges, in that you're looking at the team that started the season in 2008 and the partial team, not thru fa and without the draft. Also remember at this point in 2008 we didn't even have Penny...we didn't get him until he was gifted to us by the jests in early August...

When we get to TC and then the season, perhaps we can make more comparisons...Think of it this way...if we don't acquire another WR, we have a better group right now than in 2008, even without Marshall. We have about the same along the OL because we had drafted Jake Long. The CBs are slightly better now (Davis, Smith, Marshall better than Allen, Goodman and Crocker). Safeties - edge to 2008. TEs - slight edge to 2008 (I don't think Mastrud is going to turn into Martin), RBs are about equal. Brown and Williams were a good team, but Bush and Thomas are probably more explosive than those guys.

I don't see a major difference yet in talent except at QB...that was the only difference that was significantly better...

We need depth at RB??? Lol.... Bush, Thomas, Slaton and that guy from the CFL. Thats pretty good in depth.

Slaton sucks. CFL guy might not even make the team. there's no guarantee Thomas improves, just like there's no guarantee Bush stays healthy.

I admire your optimism.
I love all this we are going to win 10 games crap before the season even starts. We hear this **** every year from some people. We won't win 5 games with the current state of this team, so optimism or not, I prefer to be called a realist.

Get by with matt moore. lol How about we win for a change? Im sick of this lets just get by crap with loser 3rd string quaterbacks that are a flash in the pan anyway.
