Hurricane Irma Only thread

Well folks, not to be a negative nanny, but Hurricane Jose according to the Euro model is going to travel the eastern seaboard and possibly make landfall in Virginia, just a few hours south of me, which mean a wall of water will be pushed by its northern bands up the Delaware Bay and onto the shores of both Delaware and Southern Jersey, leaving me in its path. What a $&@$&@$? Year this is turning out to be for all of us.

That vid of the tide going out is a lot like a sunami video. You sure an earthquake didn't occur out at sea? Either way, run back!! You don't want to be out there when the tide comes back. Scary stuff!

Its part of the storm surge phenomena. While winds can push the ocean into land, they also push it away from land depending on the direction its blowing.

The same will happen in Florida as well.

Another Tornado warning - along and North 595 and Sunrise

lauderdale by the Sea.

Tough year. Get prepared now just in case. You want to get all the supplies you need now while there's less panic. Take advantage of amazon prime, as they have two day shipping and a one day shipping option for a few dollars more. You have time to either drive or fly out of there for a reasonable price. You won't have the luxury of time soon.

They expect landfall between Virginia and NYC. I'll probably drive to the Central part NJ away from South Jersey and Philadelphia, which are both affected by the Delaware Bay. The further Central I go the safer it'll be. I'll just rent a hotel room, unless my family decides to help by taking me in for a few days. But that's a big if, ever since my parents passed a few ago.

Thought I'd take the edge off tomorrow with some orange flavored Stoli bought just for the occasion, but these ****ing unnerving tornado alerts have me starting early.

Look at all these tornadoes, and were not even getting the actual storm....

Pardon my ignorance, I havent really looked at this since Geography class when I was about 12. But is a tornado more or less serious than a hurricane?

Probably much less?

Damage wise - it can be worse. Andrew spun off Tornadoes that destroyed houses.

Honestly they scare me worse, shutters won't stop a tornado.

Will the water that goes out come rushing back? At some point when the pressure equalizes there has to be a state of equilibrium that's eventually achieved, correct?

Wow, we were just outside and the gust wins were pretty strong and we're in Kissimmee. What will it be like when it starts to get closer?

Ozzy rules!!
