Hope springs eternal leading up to the draft. Speculation is the flavor of the day. You pick in April with expectations of the future. Then the season starts and reality smacks you in the face.

The mock drafters have caught up to what the NFL front offices are thinking and, no surprise, Oklahoma quarterback Kyler Murray is now expected to be the top pick. Ohio State’s Dwyane Haskins is expected to be the second quarterback taken.

So Drew Lock looks like the realistic quarterback option for the Dolphins in next month’s draft. And that’s not a bad thing.

The Missouri quarterback wasn’t from a great program like Murray or Haskins and wasn’t as visible, but he’s moving up steadily in several mock drafts. ESPN’s Todd McShay has the Dolphins taking him at No. 13 in his latest mock draft.

Was watching Florio and Chris Simms this AM. I respect Chris's informed opinions. He ranked the Top 8 draftable QBs and while he had Murray far and away #1, he had Lock as a close #2 over Haskins. He liked them both but marveled over the throws that Lock could make.

Just some food for thought from someone who has proven himself as adept analytically and is not afraid to speak his mind negatively when he feels it's appropriate.

Jacob Dolegala is my sleeper pick in the quarterback class. Prototypical size, 6-6 235, poor man’s Nick Foles. Has some all-time passing records everywhere he’s played. 61% completion percent as a senior for the Connecticut Blue Devils. Probably a fifth round guy. Dolphins can trade down if Lock is sitting there. I hope that happens.

The first half of this game is like comically bad for Jacob Dolegala. This might literally be the worst first impression I've ever gotten from one of these under the radar types.

I'm not saying he's awful. But in the first half of this Stoney Brook game, he couldn't even execute the most basic of basics.

The whole vibe I see and read about Lock and Jones is that "well yeah they have Big deficiencies in their game, but they are tall & white so they can overcome that". I'd like to be proven wrong, but when you see the Broncos and ravens I wan to take a hard pass. He'll even tannehill got that narrative

I still believe that Gardner Minshew is going to be the steal of this draft. Natural at the position, highly competitive and has the "it" factor that his teammates absolutely follow. He is an alpha leader. Watch his tape.

You exactly said "he's tall and WHITE"?
