I can't believe I'm going to say this but we must resign...

I think this one is unlikely. Carroll will now command much higher pay than we'd be willing to give him. I wish him the best on the open market, but it looks like we should roll with the 2 guys we drafted last year and maybe 1 new guy. I think Carroll and Patterson are gone under a new GM that wants to wipe the slate clean of that soft guy who once pretended to play LT.

I think this is a common case of a guy who was so bad he could barely play in the league improving to a guy who is average. The jump was big, but he is still nothing more than a fringe starter. He has a chance, but he desperately needs to continue to address his awareness.

Carroll is very overrated by many fans. He should be a dime back and special teamer, nothing more. If he comes back and starts, or even plays nickle, it means we failed at acquiring players, that Taylor and Davis are complete busts, or that we've been ravaged by injury.

At the same time he's very underrated by many. He is average. Has improved every year, lacking ball skills for sure. He had a pick near the end of the year that was great awareness and I was a little shocked. If he has to start due to an injury okay. It's not the end of the world.

example of a ton of thinking here:
Let him walk for anything more than he's worth which is a minimum contract. I'd rather let Davis or Taylor get those reps. Caroll is a liability. He gets beat all the time, for a depth guy yes, but what do we have these young corner's for? Give them their chance

You wanna see a corner get beat?! Put Davis out there. Taylor might be a future starter

Davis gets beat I agree. The reps should go to Taylor.
I'd like to see Will Davis transition into a versatile S/CB depth guy. He is a ball hawk though that will get better. Carroll I really don't want him resigned if it means taking away reps from Taylor. Unless these two picks stink that bad

Nolan Carroll sucks. The only reason that he was playing is that the other options beyond Grimes sucked more or was hurt.

CBs take time to develop, even more than other players. Carrol is just one of many cases. Many unfortunate fans can't get past their first impression of a player, but all those former Dolphins who are making a good living around the league are the answer to the question "Why don't they cut his a**???"

Carroll can move on to another team, any team, just as long as he isn't on this team.

He is a liability. He good plays are far outweighed by his bad ones. People will say he doesn't give up many td's and Brady is really the only one that gets him for that. TD's aren't everything. Teams move the chains on Carroll and that is just as bad, if not worse. On 3rd downs Carroll is the weak link. When he comes on the field the opposing QB's instantly look his way. He is easy pickings for a first down.

If Patterson could stay healthy we wouldn't have this problem. But he can't so we do.

He's good depth, would have been a good extension option if he signed an extension cheap but now that he's a free agent I doubt we bring him back simply because some team will overpay.

good depth. that be about it. if he wants more than that? no thanks.

If he comes cheap id bring him back, since he knows the Def and we know what we are getting. He is reliable but def not a starter. I want to see what we have in Taylor and Davis.

He's definitely come a long way from being a huge liability. The last thing the Fins need is emptying the CB cupboard again. Keep anyone worth the time and continue forward.

A few commentators last year mentioned that Carol was the fastest dolphin, is this true or were they just trying to fire Wallace up?

They were being stupid. Clemons, Miller, Wallace, Taylor, and probably at least one other I'm not thinking of are faster than him.
