I dont get the need for a rush to Fire

By God if I'm upset, then something must happen. ;)

and he's not going to fire Ireland for the sake of firing Ireland. He will fire him because everyone involved thinks they can bring another guy in who will work for all involved.

I just ask honestly, what is the probablity of finding anyone like that who will accept this situation? Brian Gaine yes, but every outsider not nearly as much.

That's why he should just fire Ireland and hire a GM with the understanding that if they want to make coaching changes that is their right if they choose to.
Do not hire anybody with some agreement that they must keep anybody. We have handicapped ourselves for far too long doing that same silly crap over and over again

So my point is there is no reason to rush to Fire IMO. The minute this job opens up (if it does) you should have no issue finding a coach.

Yeah, but finding a coach is the GM's job. Ireland has to go first if new coach is on the owners mind. This is why I have gone through the thinking that Philbin is Ross's guy (he hired him), so the likelihood that Philbin is gone is less IMO. If you bring in new GM, that changes everything top to bottom and it all would have to change.....henceforth, new regime hooks up to Tannehill with all new coaches and system and yadda yadda yadda......This is always my point.

Firing people is easy in this league. Finding the answers is not. I just heard Jim Fassell earlier on NFLN say that too many times, coaches get fired before they even have a chance to take them to the next level.

My wife, who is a rookie principle of a school building, was telling me last night at dinner while NFLN was on with all these coaching changes and she was like "everyone with any knowhow in any organization knows it takes a good 3-5 years to establish change in the right direction if your taking over crap organization"

She is right.

The Dolphins are in mediocrity. We are not the Cleveland Browns. We are searching to get to the next level. We were close with 60 sacks and Jonathan Martin. We need to fix some more things. We need to change some things, but not at the top IMO. Everyone has hooked their hitch up to Tannehill. Year 3 is crucial for that.

Thats why I have said and will continue to say one more year for all. Next year we will have much clearer answers and ability to react.

I think the rush is because we are all afraid that the longer this situation lingers the more likely Ross won't do anything.

I understand that, but I also understand total evaluation. look a knee jerk reaction just happened in CLE and I think they just alienated alot of players, beause what did Banner really expect Chud to do, there is little talent on that team on offense and NO QB.

With us its always one more year and then well just another year wasted. Ross only has himself to blame because he should have just fired Ireland when he fired Sparano but like every other football decision Ross makes its quite wrong.

Between gator day, harbaugh, Sparano, club liv, orange carpets and keeping Ireland, I can't think of one single decision he's made that was good for this team.

as I said Ireland has been here 6 years as the Gm he has had time. Too bad for Joe if the new Gm doesn't keep a guy that coulnt make the playoffs with games against the jets and bills to close the season. He doesn't deserve to have the job in my opinion. maybe a new Gm sees otherwise but to give Ireland a 7th year does nothing to make our franchise any better.

yeah i know, its tough. But if you owned the Dolpins and were writing the checks, and had to make the ultimate decision to change everything, you honestly would be less inclined to do so at this point if you went through the entire season and anylize it honestly. Ross knows alot of inside stuff from Martin/Incognito and the people he brought in to change some things already. He has a much better feel for reality than most on here think. I think if he were to go through everything for the next week with a fine tooth comb, he would say one more year and everyone on notice as of today.

and i could be completely wrong. but thinking not.

If I were writing the checks neither guy would have been working for the dolphins beyond the year that Sparano should have been fired. I think that's exactly what he will do, not because he has thought it out , just because he is a bad NFL owner. There is Cleveland reactionary bad and there is Ross non reactionary bad. They are both bad

There is no rush on the coach and staff but the GM should be fired ASAP. The new GM, not Ross, should decide on the coach and staff and he needs time to do his homework before all of the good OC's and DC's become available. There is a rush to fire Ireland IMHO. I just feel Ross is gonna half ass this by either standing pat or cramming Joe down his new GM's throat. Big mistake if you ask me. If the new GM wants Joe I'm on board but he should have a choice.

Lovie Smith and Bill O'Brien (i think will be hired soon in HOU).

However the better College Coach if he can be taken away would be Kevin Sumlin

I'm mixed about Sumlin. Todd Graham of Arizona St is who intrigues me as a NFL HC.

I wonder how Mike Riley (Oregon St) would do in his 2nd tour of duty in the NFL?

I agree with this reasoning. I have been back and forth on this issue since Sunday and you make some great points. I know that Ron Rivera was on the hot seat before and through the first part to of this season, and look what he was able to do in his 3rd year.

I also think that our free agents will be much improved in year two, I was expecting this from the start. I feel that the linebackers will be more comfortable in their role and Wallace and Tanne will be deadly with an off-season of work with each other. I have no doubt Tanne will commit his off-season to improving his chemistry with Wallace, they could be something special.

I really feel with and improved O-line, finding a RB who can break a damn arm tackle and convert on short yardage, and the development of this years draft and free agent classes, we will be a much better team next year. We are close, for the first time in a long time I truly believe that, and a mix-up from the top down could slow that down.
