I love what Ricky said to the South Florida Reporters!!!

The play didnt upset me any but come on.. it wasnt that great.

Is it really necesarry to show no miami highlights and talk about the NE dropkick the entire time? I went to ESPN's Dolphins team page and the picture on it was of Flutie and them celebrating.. Its not even that cool, wow, he drop kicked the ball.. cool.. go home Doug Flutie

You know, I've read other fans post on here that ESPN hates the Dolphins and they never show us any love. I never really picked up on it before. But then yesterday, They didn't show a single Miami highlight. they showed Brady's throw to Branch, a couple of the field goals and of course the holy drop kick...I'd like to drop kick that little midget...anyway, they didn't show one single Miami highlight. That's a problem if you ask me. I'm not one of those guys who say "You're not giving my team the props it deserves" but come on, at least show one of the Miami TD's!

It didn't use to be this way when Miami was "the" team...When Marino was playing, the highlight reel was full of Miami hilites.

Things will change under Saban...we are just paying the price of the JJ and Wanny regimes. It will take a couple of years to change perceptions.

The Patriots and Doug Flutie were celebrating like they won the game or something...the Dolphins won the game and "he who laughs last...laughs best" :D :sidelol: :dolphins: ;) The Dolphins will be in the play offs next year...write it down. :D

the drop kick was straight disrespect, and i think dolphins should be pissed off

that being said cote's article is hilarious
i laughed out loud twice

cote said of the drop kick
"Which is the NFL equivalent of the Heat allowing Shaquille O'Neal, in a real game, to attempt a free throw by heading the basketball, soccer-style, just for laughs."

i almost pissed myself... although its upsetting as a dolphins fan, he is pretty right.

That drop kick was alot of things, disrespectful IS NOT one of them. Belichick and Saban are best friends, they aren't gonna try and disrespect each other. It is what it is. Just play the Pats wanted to try and Sunday was the perfect time to try it. No big deal.

I love how people on this board always think people are disrespectful or biased or out to get the Miami Dolphins. It really is laughable. And really kinda silly.

Certain people want to focus on the fact New England had backups in for most of the game but even while their first stringers were in the game, they were not beating the Dolphins.

P.S. The drop kick was not cool and it was not important. It is a non issue.
Exactly! even when there first stringers were in the dolphins were winning.

Nick Saban burned a timeout because of it, not a bad outcome for an an XP attempt. It also brings up lots of interesting possibilities for 2 pt conversion attempts. It wouldn't surprise me to see a few of the more innovative coaches in the league bring back this dinosaur for real.

it was still just one point, yes? I just don't see the big deal. Let a very long term vet have a moment to finish off a career. Didn't effevt the game at al....

didnt this guys win the award for best with the reporters? haha that a kid ricky:sidelol:

How stupid was it that the drop kick alone could've cost them the game? The 2-point try at the end wouldn't have even mattered had they missed the drop kick. They clearly weren't trying to win the game.

I agree. It was a lame attempt at winning. Its obvious they felt quite comfortable with playing the Jaguars at home.

IMO Cote is the weakest link in a weak journalism team at the Miami Herald.Ricky was right on the mark.

I'm really sick of the "miraculous drop kick extra point best thing to happen to football ever by hall of famer doug flutie". Was it different? Yes. Nobody has done it in a long time? Yes. Will anyone be talking about this by next Monday? No.

Even the South Florida writers like Carl Kotala and Greg Cote are getting into it. Kotala referred to it as "miraculous"??!!! And Greg Kote kept mentioning how it was a meaningless win for Miami and how great the kick was. Is this guy even on our side??? That's when Ricky Williams said possibly the coolest thing ever. Here is an exerpt:
Ricky Williams, asked about the rare, throwback play, said, "What's the big deal?" Told it hadn't happened in 64 years, he chided reporters: "Are you guys that bored?"

The existentialist running back then called our interest in the drop kick weird.

Being called weird by Ricky Williams is an interesting sensation. It's a little like being called fat by a 640-pound man.

Here is the full article:

Ricky nailed it. The South Florida sports media are such a bunch of numbnuts. Actually most of the sports media is. I know Chris Berman is probably pitching a two hour long show to the bigwigs at ESPN on how he told Flutie to do that.

And Mr. Cote, yes, Ricky Williams is an oddball. But he's a good person and a hell of a football player. You insulting him like that just shows that you all realize how inept you are. Ricky put you all in your place.

And if Mr. Cote, and this goes to all of the other would be South Floridian journalists, if you love Doug Flutie's gimmick plays so much, why don't you go offer to wash his underwear after he retires? Who knows, you might actually be qualified for it.

If you're as pissed as I am about this crap, here is Mr. Cote's e-mail address: gcote@MiamiHerald.com. Let's keep it civil and not be petty like they are.

Ricky just pulled a Saban with the media!
I'm honestly not reading any of that crap, I'm just ignoring them because it's really insignificant. I don't really care if the press sees the importance of the win and the 6 game streak. They don't decide who raises the Lombardi trophy so their opinions mean nothing. But a great shot by RW!

Like I have said all along from the second the game ended, "Who gives a damn about a bounced kick for an extra point when it had zero affect on the outcome of the game?"

The answer is: There is no answer. It should only be a small little footnote from the game. It must be because the Patriots (the previous world champs) did it. Lame.
