Man is it me or does this new regime make decisions very quickly on players, boom cut, boom signed, boom cut, I cant keep track of our roster

That's what happens in preseason..Get rid of whoever can't play. Like Donald Lee

this is from another thread but it sure fits well in this one...

Feeley "sucks" so why is Saban waffling on cutting him?

Here's my problem with "letting AJ develop." And maybe it's time I just adjust my mentality.

If we think we have any chance at winning more than we lose this year, shouldn't the best quarterback be starting -- even if it's Gus? If you're willing to phone in any real competitiveness this year, then by all means, start AJ for 16 straight. Let the career backup be a backup.

I guess that's what 4-12 teams do, but I'm having a real hard time adjusting to that attitude.

my reply to this is that frerotte isn't light years ahead of AJ at all as of now... if frerotte is slightly ahead will it really tranform our season if hes starting rather than AJ? is it gonna be the difference from 4-12 and 12-4, no way... if they are remotely close, starting either isn't going to be a giant difference from the other...

4 pages and not one of the bonifide haters has even tried to post in this thread....I think I've made my point.

going to look for another bear now...:cooldude:

*edit* my bad, I forgot about jnaledu3, he's bonifide....where'd he go anyway???

you are right with this and I don't think Saban is going to start AJ over Gus just so he can "develop". If AJ isn't able to play better than Gus right now then he sits.

As for Infins.....
People that say Feeley sucks and is "unfixable" are just fools.
You can't argue with them because even if you show them they are wrong they won't admit it or are to dense to realize it anyway.

My take on Feeley is this...

He has good tools to work with.
Has a good arm and if given time can make GREAT throws.

On the other hand he is beginning to remind me of Damon Huard when under a rush.
He seems to freeze and collapse, not showing the pocket presence needed to make it yet. He also locks onto receivers quite a bit. That did'nt worry me last year because I thought for sure a coach would have fixed that problem. It worries me after that first game because it dosen't seem that he fixed those problems in his game at all. We'll see next week.

:rofl3:

Let me know when you find another one...no wait, I do believe you will manage to tick off the next one, so I can spot ya by the crowd of people standing in a circle.

You're missing the point. Politics have nothing to do with it. If Saban didn't think AJ had the talent to compete for the starting job, he wouldn't be giving him the opportunity. Why not let Sage have the reps with the first team?

And you are one of the people who have guaranteed that Feeley will be a failure so, why is Saban even wasting his time with Feeley?
Can he not see the same thing that you see so clearly?

OMT, you can stop with the name calling too. My name is inFINSible....you already know this.

But you have tater salad in your sig.. its only fitting.

I have not guarenteed Feeley as a failure. I have only said that Feeley isnt starting material. Hes a backup, thats all. I blame the whole thing on Spielman for thinking that this guy could be a starter and paying too much for him. Had Spielman only given a 5th rounder for him, nobody would be even talking about this.

There are many people on this board who have already made their choice of starting QB, and it's not feeley...So why is Saban so far behind these people?

inFINS, you clever instigator, you know as well as I do that there are plenty of people out there, and on this board, who think they know better than the coaches... It happens every year with at least a handful of players... For some reason they just believe that even though they have nothing professionally to do with football, somehow they KNOW better than those who make millions of dollars a year evaluating and coaching talent.

The fact is that EVERY player the roster has talent; if they didn't, they wouldn't have even made it to this level. But what they fail to realize is that it takes a coach to evaluate what can be done with that talent, if there is enough talent there to merit starting him over another talent, or if there is even enough talent there woth keeping on the roster...

So, I guess the simple answer to your question, inFINS, is arrogance, ignorance, or a combination of both.

It's not my name....Don't call me that anymore, please....thank you.

You are on my list....that means at one point in time you have guaranteed that Feeley will never be good enough to hold the starting job....The only people I have on this list are those that made 100% statements that Feeley will never be anything more than a back-up or worse.

And now it's Speilman's fault that Saban can't see what you see??

So, are you willing to concede a losing season right now? If not, shouldn't the best quarterback be starting -- no matter who that is and how much better he looks?

Still here.

I dont think the haters, or myself, care as much as you do in this entire debate.

I have to admit you are more persistant than 99 percent of the people on this board about getting your point across.

Youre gonna keep beating this dead horse until it wakes back up and kicks you in the arse.

I know what Ive seen in Feeley. And frankly, Im sick of talking about him.
