I recall perfectly our first preseason game in 2002

The difference then and now is that the rest of the AFCE aren't as weak as they were back then plus you have a hard sched this year.

That has absolutely NOTHING to do with the point I was trying to make.

Stop grasping for straws and trying to stir the pot. We were playing the Saints in that game, not an AFC East foe.

I remember that game well cuz i was there... on my Honeymoon!!! My Wife, as some of you now know, is a good sport. I got to see 2 Dolphins games (that one and the Tampa game) in a week... on my Honeymoon. Yup, she's a keeper.

Anyway, that was also the game where McMichael dove over the HEADS of two Saints who were standing UPRIGHT, for a TD!!!

Randy was already having a good camp, and that TD put him on the map.

Nice post. Good times.

It was at Dolphins Stadium against the Saints. I was there.

The buzz about Ricky William's first game in a Dolphins uniform was unreal. Everyone was excited.

However, in that first preseason game, the offensive line looked terrible. Ricky had no room whatsoever to run, and Jay Fiedler was getting rushed all the time he was in.

All the talk after that game was "What good is Ricky going to do if we can't block for him?"

"Our line is terrible!...blah blah blah"

Then he proceeded to rush for over 1,800 yards, and everyone praised the o-line.

And the line of that year doesn't have the talent or the coaching that the current one has.

I want to kiss you. Can i kiss you?

You can't be too negative with this post. Its an excellent comparison with one big difference. IN 2002 we had Dave Dumbstache to make adjustments, in 2005 we have Nick Saban.

To expand a little bit on DolphinDevil's post, Ricky didn't do jack that whole 2002 preseason. Aside from the Saints game, I recall him repeatedly getting stuffed for no gain or losses against both Tampa Bay and Houston. He did score a goal line TD in the Houston game, but his yardage was really weak, and that was the last preseason game, where he got a lot more carries than any of the other preseason games.

The bottom line is that whoever totes the rock this year for the fish, be it Brown, Ricky, or Gordon, will be fine. We all know how much of an abomination the running game was last year, amongst everything else, and honestly it really has nowhere to go but up. I noticed the O Line playing dramatically better at the end of last season, and with better personnel this year, along with Hudson Houck in place of Tony Wise (excuse me-mentioning that name just invokes my gag reflex), and better talent carrying the ball, we will be better. It will take time to figure out what the best rotation is and get them to gel as a unit, but they will be a far cry from last year just by default. Better times are coming.
