I would totally support a move

Right Gonzo

And the Jills are playing games in Toronto they are so endeared in Buff..., in fact when Ralph Wilson passes the franchise will likely end in Toronto in the Sky Dome which is great for the Dolphins because they won't have to play in the snow
And I'm in Toronto a lot, so I'll get to see those phins games without having to drive to ****ty buffalo. I won't mind at all.

Hey, if I was a Bills fan I'd be at every game; but looking at their stands they don't need me....their franchise hasn't been to the playoffs since the 90s and their games are packed with rabid fans; other teams hate coming to play at Orchard Park; more than I can say for "No-Life Stadium" ....see the problem isn't just you guys don't go to the games; but your also a really tame crowd; it doesn't take much to suck the air out of the Fins stadium...it's embarrassing

That's fine, but don't be a hypocrite and knock others for doing the same thing you're doing. I don't mean to single you out, either. That goes for everyone on this board that has their own local team they don't support and are bashing the local Miami fans.

agreed. However losing 10 out of 11 home games is not good

Tell that to buffalo, redskins, 49er's and a couple of others during stretches of ineptness.. all those fans still support their team, even detroit..

I sure would. And I bet they would sell more tickets in the small city of New Haven than the metropolis that is Miami.

And for at people complaining about the heat and lack of team success, I have two words for you: BUFFALO BILLS. That stadium is always packed, and they have two backers bars in Boston that both pack for the games. The Dolphins don't even have a backers bar in Boston. You think 90 degrees and humid is worse than 10 degrees and wind? Pathetic. If the attitude of most of the Miami fans is similar to the ones on this board, I saw MOVE THIS TEAM. Maybe there's a reason we keep losing at home.........

Wow....there is even a Fins bar here in Fresno

All it takes is a google search of "detroit and blackout" or "buffalo and blackout," etc. That's all it takes.

and why did they get blacked out, they were playing the jags at the time...but before that, and it's been a long losing trend for them they had:
It is the second straight Bills game at Ralph Wilson Stadium to not sell out, and won't be the last of the 2010 regular season, either. The two blacked-out games come after a string of 22 consecutive home sellouts was snapped earlier this season, when the Bills hosted Jacksonville in Week 5.

Miami hasn't gotten that kind of support for years..I can't remember watching a sold out game on TV in miami..not counting corps buying up tickets to stop a blackout.

So you'll make excuses for Buffalo, but not accept any reasoning for Miami's sellout issues other than "poor local fan base." Gotcha.

This thread goes on and on because a supposed Dolphins' fan in Virginia, Redskins country, says he wouldn't mind if the team moved. It's comments like these that give bull**** a bad name. Attendance is driven by success, rarely the other way around. It's often cyclical. How many times have we seen teams on the verge of moving because piss-poor organizations lost fan support--Pats under the Sullivans and Victor Kiam; the Colts under Irsay, Sr; the Falcons under the Smith family; the Rams under Georgia Frontiere; the Cards under the Bidwells; the Browns under Modell. Bucs under Culverhouse, etc. Go to other sports and see similar trends. Half empty LA Forum in the post-Magic Lakers era. Empty stadiums are a factor of bad ownership and a long record of poor performance, but they are generally more prevalent in the Sunbelt where the entertainment options are more plentiful and the weather more pleasant year round. Economic hardship doesn't help either. South Florida isn't the Washington D.C. metro area with 6 of the 10 richest counties in terms of per capita income in the U.S.. Florida is a severely distressed area that looks worse than most places in the United States at this moment and most places look bad.

The living standards of your average American has been slipping down a sewer pipe for the last 30-years while asset bubbles and cheap money numbed Americans into thinking they were doing well, I'm shocked it's taken this long for the NFL to start feeling it. You know how many homes are in foreclosure in Florida? U.S.? Outrageous ticket prices, parking, concessions, runaway NFL Sunday Ticket costs, who needs it? Get a hobby. Go sailing. Take a kayak trip in the Everglades. Go to the beach. Read a story to your kids. Work for a charity, but don't give Stephen Ross your money until he delivers a Lombardi, and only after he's done that. We're due, we were supporting this team like few fan bases have ever supported their teams, and we've not tasted a championship since before the Bucs, who for years played before empty stadiums, were even a franchise.

First, I AM a Dolphins' fan. Not as "supposed" one, as you say it. Second, my point still stands here. You mention the economic hardship of the local area down there. Bottom line is empty stands, and people (according to you) can't afford it. So, (as a business owner) do you continue to try to sell a product in an area that doesn't sell that well, or do you consider moving somewhere that you believe the business would be more of a success? Be honest here. What would you do? Remember that when a radio station buys 5000ish ticket those tickets that don't have people in seats represent people that won't be spending money on parking, food, beer, clothing, or whatever else they offer. Each empty seat also represents one less fan to make the stadium louder when the other team is on offense., or to drowned out the sound of the northern transplants as they root for their team.

Yes, it is frustrating when the team loses. Yes, I understand why you wouldn't want to buy right this minute. But this has been a problem even when Miami plays well. This is nothing new. A lot of people have taken notice. Even players and ex-Dolphins make statements about the fan support down there. It's pitiful.

So, feel free to get a hobby, go sailing, take a kayak trip in the Everglades, go to the beach, read a story to your kids, or work for a charity. Do all of that, if you like. But don't get mad if you turn on the television one day and hear that Ross decided to pack up and move the team.

The Dolphins do not exist without Miami anymore than the Browns would exist without Cleveland or the Cowbys without Dallas. The Colts died the second they left Baltimore, they nearly left Indianapolis twice, couldn't sell out the Hoosier Dome. Couldn't sells tickets until Peyton Manning came along. Who would pay attention to the Dolphins if they left Miami? They'd be another vagabond franchise that's not been a contender since the early-eighties. They're not a premium brand anymore. Why are you a Dolphins' fan? You don't live here? They've not tasted any real success since the early Marino years, so that rules out bandwagon fan for all but the oldest of posters. What would be the attraction of the Dolphins outside of Miami? Even the mascot, logo and uniforms become absurd outside of Miami. You wouldn't even be rooting for the Dolphins, because all that would stay here.

I have no fear of ever waking up one day and hearing that Ross or anyone else has decided to move the team. None. Where is he moving them to? Where would they do better? You act as if the Dolphins are the only team not selling out their stadium. If you haven't heard--the Bills, Raiders, Chargers, Vikings, Rams, Jags, Bucs and Saints--to name only the most prominent, are on shaky ground financially. Where are they moving to? What cities remain to be plundered by inept NFL owners? Los Angeles is the only city currently without a team that could support one. I'm sorry to say, they all can't fit in LA. If I'm an NFL owner I know the grass isn't going to be greener anywhere else. It wasn't greener in St. Louis for the Rams. Hasn't been for the Cards in Arizona either. The Raiders had to return to Oakland. You think fickle LA fans would come out to see the crap Ross and Huizenga have been serving up? They wouldn't buy Lakers tickets during the post-Magic, pre-Shaq days.

Point of fact, last year the Dolphins were dead center in the league in attendance. They averaged 1K more than the Chiefs with their rabid support. They averaged 4K more a game than the Steelers with their rabid support. 5K more than the Bears. Only a 1K less than the Patriots who were a contender for crying out loud. If Sun Life wasn't one of the bigger stadiums in the league it wouldn't look so empty. The Fins averaged only 3K fewer fans per game than the Packers did last year. Why aren't you advocating the Bucs or Raiders move? Should the people of the Steel City be worried? The Chiefs? They're not drawing as well as the Fins, it just so happens their stadiums are smaller, so it looks better on television. Of course, there isn't much to do in Kansas City in November or June for that matter. The Dolphins fan support, considering the long-term ineptitude of the franchise is much better than some franchises who have been very good. The only power you have over a business is to cease patronage if you are unsatisfied. Everyone knew before the season began that this was a throwaway season, the owner decided to throw the season the second he brought a lame duck coach back, I'm actually shocked they average as many fans as they do at this point. Ross made a profound error bringing back a guy the fans hate and Ross himself doesn't want.

11 losses at home and 1 win thats less than 10 % chance of seeing your home team win ..
This is a self inflicted wound with no sign of changing..
you got an owner who doesn't believe in his coach
and more than 80 % of the fans think tony is part of the problem..
chucky or cower will fill more seats the 1st year..

Think about how long and how bad he bills have sucked and theyvstill pack their stadium every home game..you can't just support your team when they are good.

Thread is pointless, they will not move. LA only supports winnig teams. If not check out the clippers and the lakers when they sucked no one showed.

I love this revisionist history the out of towners are trying to lay out that says the Miami Dolphins, even when they were winning, have always had serious attendance problems. What absolute bull****. It's never even been a talking point until the team became historically awful. There is such a complete lack of understanding as to the geographic and cultural distinctions at play in the south florida market. The team was home dominant for 30 years. The Orange Bowl is a landmark in American sports history. The team has deep roots in a community that has only recently become jaded by a prolonged period of boring ineptitude. We're not moving just to be more convenient for you. Give your delusional jihad a rest.

I've already shot down that bills comparison. Sorry.
