Idea for what we can do with Dion Jordan.

Like the idea OP, But at this stage it would probably take a lot to convert him. So disappointing..who the heck even knows where his mind and heart are at this stage.

I get the strong sense he doesn't want to play for Miami.

Jordan is (or was before bulking up) more athletic as JJ Watt is. He's even said himself that he's only an average athlete, whereas it's been proven by Sports Science that Dion is an exceptional athlete. Would he be better than Sims? I don't know, but I know he'd be bigger and longer.

That's why you draft football players. You don't draft somebody based on how well they do at a combine. You watch what they actually do. Dion Jordan will never be half the football player that JJ Watt is .

McCain should see the field before this BUST...

Dion Jordan has never caught a football in a college or NFL game. There was a lot of talk about how he covered slot receivers in college, but he never had any INTs. Telling the guy to constantly gain weight, lose weight, learn a new position (DE, OLB, TE) is just wasting a roster spot, wasting his career, and watching his trade value decline with time.

My view has always been that Dion Jordan's ideal spot is as a 3-4 OLB, and that we should trade him.

Miami already has DEs Wake, Vernon, Shelby, Fede, along with situational pass rusher Chris McCain.

Dion Jordan's old coach Chip Kelly had expressed trade interest earlier this year. If the interest is still there, we should take it.

Glad I am not alone in that thinking. Could be why he was invisible all of preseason.

Just because he has 0 career catches doesn't mean he can't catch the ball. I don't think it would hurt to toss him a few balls in practice to see where his game is at. If he was recruited as a TE I doubt his hands could be that bad.

IMO, Jordan would shine in a scheme such as Seattle's 4-3 where he could used as a LB/DE hybrid where some 4-3 formations mimic the 3-4, but I'm not aware of Coyle's ability to make this transition within his defense though.

Dion needs more game reps now that he is healthy. He is a DE for us, that's what he knows how to do. Asking him to be a TE in the NFL is like asking a smokin hot nerdy girl to swing on a pole like a stripper, it's just not her thing. Let him use his talent to kill QB's and cover speedy TE's.

Also, the Fins make not take to kindly trying him at TE, cuz then they're admitting the trade up and draft of him was a mistake.

But he is not taking up roster space now, and when he comes back you cant tell me that the potential he has is not better than the 53rd man on your roster currently?

Agree. And if he isn't, what a waste. Miami needs to stop playing players out of position.
However if they think he is a bust move on and find someone who can play the position they want him to play.
Hopefully that is not the case.

Miami should have not go so excited about how a guy looks in shorts. I don't think they are playing Dion out of position essentially because if a team goes from a 3-4 to a 4-3 the outside linebackers are usually defensive ends. People act like Miami is doing something that has never been done.
Cameron wAKE was not moved to 4-3 linebacker he was moved to defensive end. That's usually what happens. Jordan has never been a 4-3 linebacker so not sure why people act like we are playing him out of position. I do agree he is much more set up to be 3-4 LB.

Once Dion, Starks, Misi, & McCain have all returned, here is what I'd do/

Run the 5-2-4 full time. Starks, Mitchell, & Odrick would be the DT's. Rotate Wake, OV, DJ, Shelby, & McCain At DE.

Misi, Tripp, Wheeler, Jenkins, & Sheppard would rotate @ LB.

p.s. McCain could also be used at LB, Odrick at DE, & Shelby as a DT.

The 5-2 is bassically th 3-4 but bigger? Or are all 5 with the hand in the dirt? I really don't see much of a difference.
