Idea for what we can do with Dion Jordan.

Once Dion, Starks, Misi, & McCain have all returned, here is what I'd do/

Run the 5-2-4 full time. Starks, Mitchell, & Odrick would be the DT's. Rotate Wake, OV, DJ, Shelby, & McCain At DE.

Misi, Tripp, Wheeler, Jenkins, & Sheppard would rotate @ LB.

p.s. McCain could also be used at LB, Odrick at DE, & Shelby as a DT.

The 5-2 defense is not the answer. Did you forget how Buffalo dismantled it? I don't think we even got a sack in that game, we did a decent job against the run but the intermediate passes killed us. Sammy Watkins was running wide open with no one within 10 yards of him...too much open space with only two linebackers covering the intermediate areas.

Jordan is (or was before bulking up) more athletic as JJ Watt is. He's even said himself that he's only an average athlete, whereas it's been proven by Sports Science that Dion is an exceptional athlete. Would he be better than Sims? I don't know, but I know he'd be bigger and longer.

JJ Watt may not be the athlete that Jordan is but Watt has an arsenal of pass rush moves...swim, rip, spin, bull rush and he knows how to set up whatever offensive lineman is in front of him and when to use each move. So far Jordan hasn't displayed any of that...limited number of moves and a lack of knowledge on when to use them. Many on here also noticed that after Jordan bulked up this offseason he didn't have the same get off...not near as explosive as he was last year. That's what he showed in the preseason at least. Maybe he just didn't try hard cause he knew he was going to be suspended for the first 4 games...he did seem disinterested to me.

Athlete does not equal football player.

The 5-2 is bassically th 3-4 but bigger? Or are all 5 with the hand in the dirt? I really don't see much of a difference.

Problem is our DC likes running a 4-3. Im actually glad we switched

I'm not comparing them as DE's as there's nobody in the game like JJ. There might not have ever been a guy like him either.

You may be right that he wasn't trying his hardest in pre-season. Not to mention we weren't exactly running anything but a vanilla D and he was clearly too heavy or at least not use to working with the new added weight. He could have also been weak if he were coming off of using PED's and still adjusting to that.

Star DE does not equal good TE either. Nor does the inverse apply. Jordan could end up being a semi- or total bust as a DE and still be a good redzone TE, although I doubt he'd stick on the roster if he weren't at least somewhat productive on defense.

To me the answer is simple, drop the weight and let him play LB and fill in at DE from time to time. He's shown he can cover down the field, which is something our current LBs have not. He's shown he can get around the edge and get to the ball in the QB's hand, which other than Wake we don't have anyone who can do that. Bottom line is that it's just way, way too early to give up on this kid.

Dion Jordan is still a player i'm excited to see come back, his effort in preseason was tied to his suspension imo, he knew he would miss time and would not risk injury, he will be different when he comes back

I got a great idea we could make Dion Jordan the delivery drive at Jimmy John's!?! If JT had his skills and body frame he'd be the best DE ever!!! Jordan needs lay off the crack pipe.

I'd rather him be 265 like he was. He's looked extremely slow from what I saw in preseason.

You guys don't seen to get that the kid had a real drug problem that affected his preseason performance. If he can win that battle, he'll get back to terrorizing offenses, IMO. That shuttle drill video isn't just impressive, it's breathtaking. Let the dude just play LB. His agility is on par with smaller guys and his size means tipped passes and crushing smaller guys upon impact. If he can get his mind right, which is the big 'IF', then be patient and let him grow into the biggest, baddest LB out there. Man, can he cover ground.

JJ Watt did more in his rookie season than Dion will in 2 seasons! Kind of hard to say that Dion is the better athlete or athletic specimen when he can't prove he is! Watt has been a freak of nature and Dion strives to be that even if it means doing illegal substances to get to Watts level of play!

JT had much better skills

I don't really care how Jordan is used, but I'll tell you one thing, the way our D-line is set up and our new LB's making a little noise, he'd better be in a league of his own if he wants to stay on this team. We gave up a lot for him and won't even see him play again until almost mid season. If he's as good as "JJ" then definitely keep him. If not, trade by the deadline. Something tells me this won't be his last suspension.

Jordan was recruited as a TE. I think they should put some red zone plays in for him.

I think he should be the guy that runs out after the kick-off and brings the kicking tee back to the sideline...

He is closer to former Dolphin J.J. Johnson than J.J. Watt
