If Philbin gets fired, who would you like to see as head coach?

There's a lot of talk about coaches. What we need is a new GM. All these years we've had sub par talent. Step 1 is hiring a competent GM who will hire a good coach who will in turn hire a good coaching staff. I sure hope someone is getting Ross' ear and giving him good recommendations for a good GM.

This... exactly

If Gruden wanted to come back to coaching he would have done so.
Oh not to mention he is incredibly overrated as a head coach.
Perhaps. Overrated, yes. He only won a SB after inheriting a team that was poised for a championship after years under Tony Dungy, it also helped in playing his former team in the SB. After the SB win, Tampa deteriorated quickly.

It took Bill cower like 100 years to win the Super Bowl. I don't want to wait that long.
Exactly. He would have never lasted that long on another team. He was the beneficiary of some excellent drafts and team management ... and being with a team that only changes coaches once they retire.

I'd be happy with Brian Billick. Cowher would be my top choice.

How about Jimmy Johnson? Did you hear the speech he gave Jacksonville?

If Philbin is canned am I the only one that want's someone like Rob Ryan who shows raw emotion and get's his players fired up??? Not to mention we would field a top Defense year in and year out.

Before Philbin was hired I wanted Mike McCoy or Chudzinski. Following that same pattern I would be okay with Jay Gruden. But I'm thinking Ross will want to go with a established head coach this time around.

Someone who can provide leadership to young men, who is organized and an excellent game day manager, who sets his players up to succeed and most importantly, a guy who can communicate and motivate todays players.

Joe Philbin, unfortunately, doesn't seem to be that guy and I was all about the Dolphins hiring him before he was being considered.

Why, Did he go 7-9 this year? Seems that is still to be determined .

If we're in the same place as we were last season, it sure seems like we're heading towards that. And if we're 3-5 after tonight, we might not even finish that good. I have no issues with your optimism but the reality is this team is currently heading in the wrong direction.

I don't mind the raw emotion; I just don't want Rob Ryan.

I dont mind playing hypothetical....

We have had a first time NFL head coach..every year since Jimmy Johnson. Under Johnson we went 36-28 in 4 years with 3 playoff appearances.

Since then...We have had Dave Wannstadt, Nick Saban, Cam Cameron, Tony Sparano, and now Joe Philbin.

3 Playoff appearances in 14 years.

At this point...Im inclined to forgo giving another coach a first time job.

I do what ever in gods name I have to do....to get either John Gruden or Bill Cowher to come to Miami. If Ross has to give up partial ownership of the team. So be it.

I will say this. If Nick Saban ever wanted back, Id take him.

At this point I'd take any one of the posters on this website as a head coach......even NYJUNC !!

I only like two on the list, Whisenhunt and Lovie, If we get Lovie I am sure he would bring in his buddy to run the defense once he gets canned in Minnesota. The rest of those guys, why bother.......

How about fixing the GM first before dumping the coach!
Once that's done, then give Philbin a year to turn things around. If nothing, then go with Lovie ,the chin or Chucky.

Kevin Sumlin- Head Coach - Texas A&M
DavidSahw - Head Coach - Standford

If you want to attract the Top GM you have to allow them to pick the coach...they just half assed this two years ago....if they are going to fire people, do a clean sweep and move on.
