If released, I think Saban brings in Rohan Davey.

Why? This is NOT the same system Nick ran at LSU. Different OC with different brand of football. Davies would have a MAjor learning curve. Now find a young QB that worked with Linehan in the past and you might just have something.

the only one that had extensive experience with him is Dave Ragone of the Texans

Amen to that. That's exactly what I thought when I first saw this post. :shakeno:

Face it - we're stuck with what we're stuck with at QB for this season at least. Bringing in another sub-par QB won't do anything to change that! Heck, Davey wasn't really even that great at LSU! Ugggh!!!!

davey was great at lsu. i don't know what games u watched. the one's i watched he was winning sugarbowl mvp. dominating the peach bowl. stomping all over tennesee in the championship game. zinging balls downfield and leading the team to comebacks all the time. then he goes out and wins the europe championship as a pro. i think all this talk is useless more because bb will never let him go. let's face it our qb's aren't that good. davey is an experienced leader. all this talk about accuracy goes out the window when he starts. he just needs to be in game situations to be accurate. i bet most of u against him have never watched more than 1 game of him playing. rohan is :)

OK, I saw plenty of LSU games w/ him playing - I just thought he was more a product of the system, rather than him actually being THAT good. I just don't see him as an NFL QB, that's all! Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't his completion percentage at LSU barely over 50 percent?

My guess is the guy would have already been traded by BB for something valuable if he was that good in the first place.

I just don't see how bringing in yet another third-string QB is going to help us at all!

bring some stats. i know he was the only qb in lsu history to throw for over 3000 yards in a season. and after he left mauck was more of a running qb and short dump off completion qb. i'll look for some stats myself.

some more:

he had a 60 percent completion not 50
1st ourtight confernce titlel sense 86
avg. 280 yards a game

He won't get into game situations if he's not accurate. I think the only reason Davey's name is brought up is because he played at LSU, but he's a garbage player, and a backup at best. I really don't care about what he did a few seasons ago in college. Matt Cassell did absolutely nothing but hold a clipboard in college and was pretty impressive to me for New England. Davey is an experienced leader? I just don't recall him being a leader for New England.

he lead nfl europe to a title and lsu to sec title. if u watch him play, he is totally calm and giving guys signals before coming to the line. even in preseason game the other day, he looked very poised. until given a chance to start he will be a backup because he is stuck behind brady. he's better than what we have as backup and nick and linehan might find the right combo. he has a cannon for an arm which is perfect for our offense. he has more experience in his little toe than feeley has in his whole body.

more

won nfl europe offensive player of the year w/ 105 passer rating

in the world bowl he was 19 of 29 212 yards in the victory against the galaxy.

at lsu, he was selected one of 3 team captains as a junior despite being a backup.

ranks 6th all time lsu w/ 4415 yards in only 12 games

It's not about the system it's about the repore that they have between each other.

Obviously there would be a learining curve but IMO the Linehan system is well suited to Davey - Physically Big and Strong armed/mobile QB.

That's why I mentioned Mcmahon and lets all remember, we are just kicking around idea's here, the moves we talk about, most likely wont happen. It's just talk guys, no need for people to get upset over someone elses opinion. Opinions are like A$$holes, everyone has one and they all stink.

Sorry, but our long term solution to quarterback is gearing up for the upcoming college season.

Gus has more experience than both. He has experience in college, and NFL Europe, and that does not impress me. Didn't Akili Smith play in NFL Europe? He has a cannon arm, the team should look into him right? What about Matt Mauck? He played for Saban, I think you, and many other fans are blinded by the fact that he played for Saban in college, but he's nothing more than a career backup. If he did not play for LSU, noone would even bring up his name.

Why would he? Hello Tom Brady!

I was making a point, when he was called a leader, and perhaps he was a leader in college, and NFL Europe, but that doesn't make him a leader in the NFL.

i don't know about akili smith, but i'm pretty sure that he didn't win offensive mvp and win a world bowl title. some of the europe league defenses get pretty good after a season of jelling. better than the cannon fodder that berlin and sage have been doing ok against. all this bad talk about his accuracy and he has 105 rating in a full season of europe ball. he's better than our backups so why not give him a chance to compete. he will surprise u. and the player that have played w/ him absolutely love him in the huddle. he's just one of those guys that inspire confidence
