If the Dolphins wanted to move on from Tua Tagovailoa, there are not many options

Either Tua has earned his, or several of the other big name QBs have not.
"Several of the other big name QB's have not" is an understatement. There are about 20 NFL teams buried right now by over paying on long term contracts for their starting QB. The Dolphins can learn from others mistakes and not go down this same wrong path.

Aaron was behind Brett for several years but when he started finally, he was dominant. Peyton started dominating in his second season and continued. Tua is no where near those guys and never will be. Tua needs a team to carry him. He can’t carry the team to a win. He’s already shown this multiple times.
Peyton Manning threw 26 TDs and 15 Ints in his second year, he was hardly dominant. His TEAM went 13-3. And His team lost to the Titans in the first round of the playoffs that year. His team also got smoked in the playoffs in the first round the next year by Miami. Then his team went 6-10 And missed the playoffs. In year 5 he got beat 41-0 by the Jets in the playoffs. Manning finally won his first playoff game in year 6.

He threw 100 interceptions his first 5 years in the league, and had his first QB rating of over 100 in his 7th year.

Tua deserves more time. He has earned it much more than 5 or so of the bigger QB contracts have.

Who are the QBs that you feel have earned their contracts?

I would be open to bringing in Cousins anyway if the Vikes dump him (they won't). Tua needs a vet in the QB room. He's too goofy to be the old guy in the room. Always on his phone on Hard Knocks, etc. For the draft capital you'd have to spend to trade for anyone, you might as well trade up for Penix.
1. Cousins will cost no less than 35 mil per year. That would be one expensive backup.
2. I wouldn’t be shocked if pinix is still on the board when we pick in the 2nd round.

Yeah, let's get Sam Howell or Kirk Cousins.

Wait no, let's give Zach Wilson another shot!

God damn, it's gets really dumb in here sometimes.

I don't know, Penix might bust too early with all that pressure...

An article that doesn't mention Cousins as an alternative I can't take seriously.

Trade Tua. Get picks, and get similar or better production from Cousins. Done.
Similar production? Tua won't have the same production if he's the starter next season... honestly I don't foresee him ever having the level of success that he's already had. Defenses have caught on. So yes agreed, time to trade Tua now while his value is higher than it will ever be. Cousins will be a massive upgrade!

if Grier doesn't see this, and decides to stick with Tua without legitimately exploring options, I want his ass gone! We don't need a Gm that chooses to stay in denial.

Tua stinks after his first read because he has guys in his face. Cousins isn’t even getting it off to his first read half the time with the line we had this year with injuries. Cousins with one good Achilles with our line only ends in one way and it isn’t good.

He sucks in primetime and is 1-4 in the playoffs so that fixes nothing compared to Tua’s supposed problem except Tua is young and healthy while cousins is old and hurt. Did I mention he’ll cost more money as well?
Guys in his face is why Tua stinks after his first read? More like a processing issue, lack of awareness is why Tua can't get beyond his first read without getting happy feet. Cousins and Tyreek with McD could be lethal.

I doubt many of the pessimists here are successfully people in real life. Just an observation from life.
Please expand here. So who are the pessimists that you speak of? What makes these posters pessimistic? Truly fascinated here. Also curious what defines success to you in real life?

Some people just want anyone but Tua. It's fine if you feel that way, just own it.
Dude Tua is a sweet guy off the field and I wish him the absolute best. He just appears mentally handicapped on the field and this is ultimately compromising this offense and team. Sure he will put up flashy and exciting numbers against weak defenses. The way McD has designed this offense, he doesn't have to process much at all actually, which is needed when this team plays sophisticated defenses.

Imagine McD design an offense for a Qb that's able to process and actually manipulate a defense, and not just with his eyes. A savvy, cerebral vet like Cousins could do this!
