If you can believe the following article Ricky doesnt know about any possible trade or at least doesnt like the idea.Apparently he has really bought into to Sabans program and probably would have second thoughts about playing for another team if traded.

You have to think that any possible trade for Ricky would be conditional so if that happens we will get very little for the trade if he decides to quit again.

So IMO we might as well keep him here.As long as he is motivated he will produce and he is not a burden on our CAP yet.

After the exhibition game against Jacksonville, when Williams showed off some of his old form, he turned to a reporter and said, ``Do you really think I'm going to be traded after this season?''

In so many words, the reporter said that appeared to be the most logical scenario. Given the investment the Dolphins are about to make in rookie running back Ronnie Brown and given Williams' need to play if he hopes to make more money in the next few years, staying with the Dolphins seems unlikely.

Williams understood all the points. Still, he had a slight frown at the thought.

''I really don't care about the stats or the money. I really like the idea of going through the process of what we're trying to do here,'' he said.In the space of about three weeks, Williams has gone from Dave Wannstedt deserter to Nick Saban devotee.

With the threat of him flaking out again and comments that basically translated to him only being interested in playing two years, who would give up more than a 2nd day pick for him anyway?

He is not a burden on cap this year, because he has no ground to stand on for contract negotiations. However if he has a productive year, that could change. Maybe he is sincere and will not cause a burden........hmmmm that would be sweet, Ronnie and Ricky for multiple years? :goof:

I'm usually not one for predictions but I think Ricky will be here for a while.
1) He has an eastern philosphy on life which preaches inner happiness and peace. He was contacted by Saban, not the other way around, and he has bought into evrything and WANTS to be here. He is a diffrent person than a year ago.
2) No matter how well he does, he has no value to any other team. Most teams were worried about him when we took him and thought we were crazy. It seems like Saban understands him and they have an agreement. I really don't see him going anywhere.
3) Why trade him? He has no effect on the salary Cap and his a workhorse.
4) From what I heard from some trainers, Ricky really didn't like wanny or the way wanny treateds him and the offense. He also didn't like Foerster. Apparantly the lockjer room was a mess last year and there really was no hope. Ricky wasn't the only one who wanted to leave. And actually he was the only one to actually leave (Chidi Ahaunato)

He probably would quit if we traded him. But once we trade him, that's the other teams problem and not ours.

What if we trade him for a conditional draft pick which depends on his playing time.We may trade him for a No 2 which could end up a No 7 if he quits soon after.

I don't think we'll trade him for a conditional pick. Saban knows better than that.

I tend to agree, Ricky seems to really like Saban and has bought into his program 100%. I doubt he would want to play for anyone else. It's almost like a father son type of relationship, it seems like Ricky needs a strong role model someone who will guide him.

crunch...i know its off topic...but do you have any torrents going for these last two games???

i really liked what i saw from him...

and i realize that Ronnie was the #2 overall pick... but guys, we don't know if this guy can even ball yet. Lets face it: Ricky is one of the best ever. If Ricky had not retired last year he might have possibly ended his career as the all-time rushing leader.

Ricky has skills that very few RBs in the league have. We have NO idea how Ronnie will perform. I almost hate to discuss what we could/should do with Ricky when we haven't even seen Ronnie yet. I predict good things for Ronnie, but then again so did the Rams about Lawrence Phillips when they drafted him first.... and the Bengals when they drafted Ki-Jana Carter.

I am NOT saying Ronnie is like those guys... what i AM saying is we don't know him yet... he could have a career of mediocrity before him. we don't know. we DO know what we have in Ricky.

I'd like to see a solid season of BOTH guys playing for us before we make a solid decision. Who knows? Ronnie could be the next Shaun Alexander. Or he could be the next Ron Dayne. Let's wait until we pass full judgement on Ricky. It would really suck to give up a player of his caliber, regardless what we get in return.

Ricky could make an 8-10 million dollar, 3-year contract work with the Fins if they also agree to drop the 8.6 million judgement. Ricky says the money is less important now and such a contract would give him something without breaking the cap.

Yes.That would be a way out.The Dolphins have all the cards.

Why would we want to get rid of a "willing" Ricky Williams? There hasn't been any negative pub coming from any of the players regarding him. He's seemed to have his life in order and is enjoying playing for Saban. As long as Ricky wants to play, why not for us??

It will most likely be the ONLY way to trade him for anything valuable..
