You remeber 4th and 5 with just over 3 minutes left in the game on the Patriots 35 yard line down by 3? The field was
WAY too muddy to attempt a field goal, and Don Shula told Marino to throw it over the middle to Keith Jackson to keep the drive alive. Well, Dan saw that Irving Fryar was one-on-one with his man and they were playing bump-and-run coverage. Marino stepped up to the line, gave a subtle signal to Fryar, called an audible, dropped into shotgun and threw a 35 yard touchdown to Fryar who was streaking down the sideline, hitting in full stride at about the 3 yard line. I don't care what anyone says...that takes
BALLS!
I guess what I am trying to say is that preseason performances do not exacty translate to how a player will execute when it is for real.
