Im hearing you, you have big ass triceps and your chest isnt quite as studly. Got it.

Correct me if im wrong, but are you a NFL prospect? If not, im dont see the comparison.

James spent x amount of years(i havent looked up how long he was in school because he was a hilarious awful pick) playing against NFL prospects and he himself spent the last few months preparing for the draft. But we should all ignore that because...um...he has long arms and bench presses are difficult. Superboooooooowl!
 
Well..lets see if I can put in terms you can understand...look up center of gravity. And longer arms doesnt mean you cant bench press..it means its more work for a guy with 35 inch arm length to press 225...then it is for a guy with 30 inch

Im sure Mario Williams will take that into consideration and not use all of his strength when lining up against him.

So are you saying you have to be an NFL prospect in order to lift weights? Your occupation has nothing to do with any of that in terms of explaining the science behind it.

I'm not saying his weakness in the bench is due to long arms because he may not be a gym guy and make the effort. But again, longer arms create greater distance increasing the force of gravity of that weight. This also affect stablizing the weight.

How about the multi-year starter at RT Vernon Carey (the last good RT we had by the way).

By all means, lets wait until the 2nd and get a Jon Martin clone instead. Get a clue.

Vernon Carey was amazing. Where is he again? He was only drafted in 2004, he should still be playing. Oh wait, he isnt? Nevermind then.

And clearly those pro-bowls meant quite a bit. They were the difference when it came to resigning the player we took over every single other draft prospect. Perhaps if he had gone to 5 instead of 4 we would have resigned him and wouldnt be reaching for tackles in the first round, amirite? Who needs a Superbowl when you have the pro-bowl!

What does that have to do with the physics of lifting? You can lift 1 time a week or 1 once a month. It's still the same and each body type is affected differently.

We drafted a RT in James who started every game for four years at Right Tackle. So who says this was a bad pick over potentially moving up for Zach Martin (a Guard) or Lewan (who has off-the-field issues)? Experts are always trying to place a grade on a guy, or tell you where he should go. Remember Teddy Bridgewater was supposedly going to be the #1 overall pick a while back....he went 32nd...so what happened?? If Tannehill is happy and has an extra second to throw the ball, that's what matters. You people who are hating the pick just need to chill out and see how things develop.

Im discounting your experience because it has little to do with this situation.

Every other prospect goes through the same process as James. Even the long arm ones. They dont have to much trouble with it.

Perhaps when the combine creates a special lifting event for long arm prospects that totally replaces the bench press i'll change my tune. Until then, i'll keep laughing at the idea that long arms automatically mean its acceptable to not lift as many weights as virtually everyone else.
 
Bryan Cox wasn't a weight room guy either. He hated lifting weights.
 
That's not the point. The point is you could get a guy in 3-4 round who is better than Martin and Clabo.

The point was not just to get any tackle to play the R-tackle position for the Dolphins, but instead for the coaches to have confidence to have the right person who could consistently play the R-tackle position with little to no problems.

Miami has forced a washed up hack (Columbo), an over the hill linemen (Clabo), and an over his head pansy/snake (Martin) to play the position. Time to stop looking for 2nd and 3rd rate options, and actually fix the problem.
 
When you watch the tape i don't think you see any lack of power. I'm not relying on combine stats for evaluation tape doesn't lie
