Interesting take on Fins/Packers game from Green Bay media...

Stopped reading at:

Brian Hartline (6-1½, 200) is a five-year starter with strong, sure hands, fearlessness in traffic and good run after the catch.

I wouldn't' say the whole assessment is wrong or completely off base....but I also think McGinn spent way to much time talking and focusing on the past.

He does not account for team that's been dealing with adjusting to a new offense....5 New lineman...or some untimely key injuries.

I get the feeling he way underestimates what this team is capable of doing if it is clicking....

I could look at Green Bay and their performances and fairly say outside of Rogers and a couple others...they look pedistrian and average at best.
Outside of Rodgers, Jordy Nelson and Randall Cobb they are pedestrian at best. Green Bay goes as Aaron Rodgers goes. Until last week against the Vikings they hadn't rushed the ball for more than 80 yards and Eddie Lacy hadn't rushed for more than 48 yards in a game yet. You could also say the with Christian Ponder at QB the Vikings are worse than the Raiders.

My issue is that the article is very one sided...not surprising if you want to keep your job in Wisconsin.

There's no mention of the fact that the offensive line for Green Bay isn't very good...Rodgers has been sacked 12 times in 5 games and he's one of the more mobile QBs in the league and escapes pressure with regularity. No mention of the fact that the Green Bay defense is flat out bad...dead last against the run and 24th overall...they're good at creating turnovers which is their only saving grace. In their two losses the offense was limited against Seattle because Seattle didn't allow any yards after catch to their receivers and they shut down Green Bay's running game and got a lot of pressure on Rodgers without letting him escape the pocket. The GB defense couldn't stop the run and Russell Wilson got them several times with the zone read option and he found wide open receivers for easy pitch and catch. Against Detroit the offense got shut down again by a front 4 that shut down their running game, put pressure on Rodgers while containing him in the pocket but mostly it was the Detroit offense that kept Aaron Rodgers off the field. They ran the ball 38 times, converted 11/18 3rd downs and had a TOP of over 38 minutes.

I'm not scared of GBs defense. We should easily be able to run the ball and keep the Packers offense off the field. We don't even need Tannehill to play great...it could be much like the game against the Patriots to start the season where we ran for 191 yards and Tannehill wasn't sharp. The key is not turning the ball over. Defensively we just have to limit the YAC...Rodgers is gonna make throws we can't defend we just have to make sure we tackle.

interesting read...i think most the player analysis is spot on...which is rare for an opposing teams view point...but the scout saying this o can only score 2 tds...get out of here with that...tempo would provide more snaps and more production

really good player stuff for the most part...he takes a shot at our run game production being a function of scheme...you know how many teams running game results are scheme driven??? a freaking bunch

i have to laugh when someone says the decision making of this qb is an issue...3 years of tape don't even begin to say that...it just sounds like an easy way to explain average win loss results etc and qbr ratings...which are more than a function of qb play

Being at the Raiders game was a great win and fun to feel part of a blowout. That being said, this team makes way, way too many mistakes. If we had played another team besides the Raiders in London there would have been a different outcome. I have many concerns with this team, as we all should. We shouldn't be seen as traitors if we recognize short comings. Missed tackles (linebackers) putting the ball on the field (everyone) interceptions... these things need to be fixed. In my opinion a healthy Knowshon return solves some of these ailments. It will be interesting to see if the returns this week make a difference

Yup, certainly wasn't the cleanest game of all time but it goes to show that great QB play can overcome a lot of deficiencies. Had that been against the Packers we likely don't get away with all of those mistakes but we still might have won at the end. Philbin admitted as much, just like after the Patriots game he said they left a lot on the field and still have work to do, he said that was just the tip of the iceberg of what they are capable of, and he didn't even take any credit saying the staff didn't really do much differently for that game. I love that attitude. Even if you're beating teams 50-6 there will always be things to improve upon, you can never be complacent, even in big wins.

The Vikings Thursday night game was their version of our Raiders London game. I expect a close one this Sunday, with the fins covering the spread of not winning

We basically have to do a repeat performance of the Raiders game in offense execution, except, be even more timely about it.
Carrying that consistency from one game to the next is what scares me the most about Miami, because it's crucial for a win.
We have trouble winning games any other way with high chance of success. Our defense isn't made to dominate for 4 Q's and shut out talented teams, and our special teams and kicking are too questionable to be relied upon with any great trust.

Offense has to stay in the race with Rodgers til the end, or we're going to blow it.

Any team running the read option has a scheme driven run game. This includes the Eagles

Still think we should boot Zac Taylor. I don't know who to replace him with but he needs to go, Lazor is probably doing most of his job right now... Maybe Pennington wants to try it out heh

I'm quite sure we would have beaten a lot of teams in London...Tannehill played too well, as did many others.

It's ok to criticize flaws and point them out...it's over the top negativity that gets old for me.

To say the Raiders is the only team we beat that day is over the top.

On thing no one can argue with the article is that Zac Taylor did not have enough credentials to be a NFL coach.
3 years grad assistant
1 year assistant qb coach and the made qb coach.

I think the 2 things that caught my eye the most were the fact that an outside (and supposedly objective) analysis viewed Miami's talent much lower than we do (which shouldn't really be that surprising I suppose); and then Philbin's nepotism regarding Miami's coaching staff. I knew he had connections to Turner and Taylor, but I never realized they were physically related to Sherman on a family level.

Maybe so...but it's interesting this pedestrian/average team ranks statistically better in the majority of NFL categories than the amazing Green Bay Packers(worst run stoppers in the NFL).

Hey...Rodgers gives them a chance to win every game...no doubt.

But, we clearly are an overall more talented football team.
