Interesting...

Apparently not mentally because he clearly lacks comprehension of what little negotiating power he has at that age.

trying to strike while the irons hot....cant say i blame him...but it's not fiscally rezponsible given the age to give in...

in a heartbeat, he is very good. I would also sign Wharton for camp competition. At this point, we need all the OL we can get.

Frankly, if we're not signing Mack and kicking Pouncey to G then I'm ready for the draft.

I don't want 1 or 2 year FA solutions that cost us a draft pick. Especially an early/mid round pick. Mack is far younger, playing at an elite level and doesn't cost us a pick.

If they are asking for a 3rd (which is reported) then I would offer a 4th and see if that would get it done. But yes, he is a very good player. He is getting up there in age though, so you have to worry about that. Still, Id at least be discussing the possibility

who cares if he is 32, he still plays elite. I'd take him for a 2 year contract, 6 mill each year. Think about this: We draft an OT and OG in the later rounds this year, let Albert and Mathis groom them for 2 years. Remember Aaron Rodgers didn't start until his, 4th...year?

He's the best guard in football...with our needs even for a 3rd you have to consider it. I'd float a 4th or 5th rounder and see if they bite...a 3rd is pretty rich for the additional salary he'd cost. Our line would be exceptional though.

Albert-Mathis-Pouncey-Shelley-Draft Pick

we could do a hell of a lot worse than giving up a 4th rounder for evan mathis...stop gap or not philbins got to win now...and they missed in free agency on the options there oline wise

but if i did give him any kind of extension it would have to be a club option which he would be unlikely to go for coming off his current play level...

Give it up on Mack....he got transitioned tagged and the Browns will match all offers. Plus I'm not giving a center that much.

The only knock I would have is he makes about $5 million a year, but he was the NFL's top ranked OG in 2011 and 2012. I would trade for him. We would not find a better OG than Mathis in the third round, or later.

He was also #1 last year, and $5M is the going rate for a good OG in FA, which we should have paid Asamoah, and did pay Cog last year. The guy had a grade on the run of 40.2, which is 39 points higher than Cog, who was our only OL in the plus column.

I would be very happy with him, Albert, and Pouncey covering the left side.

MIA signed Shelly Smith to play LG. The left side of the line is set, we are looking for RT and RG.

Yeah, and how can we do better than the #1 OG in the NFL the last few years? He was largely responsible for the Eagles being the #1 run blocking team in the NFL. I would prefer a 4th rounder but, there is no way we can get a better player with the 3rd.

I would give up a third for Mathis. Philbin is on the hot seat this season and you will not find that talent and experience in this years draft..
