Is Hickey Joined at the Hip to Philbin's Hot Seat?

You can only blame a coach for so much. At some point you have to acknowledge the players have to get themselves up for a games. So, I dont mind agreeing to disagree and maybe if we have continual problems where it doesnt seem like the players are responding to philbin, but the reason why i think you're overreacting, is because this is one instance. And within this one instance, there's blame to go around to everyone on the team, not just the coach.

It's easier to change coaches than to swap out players. And it wasn't "one instance." The team came out very flat to face a division opponent after the bye week, and they were flat in the final two games with the playoffs on the line. So... three instances. All against inferior opposition.

Philbin and Hickey have 3 years. That is just my guess of Ross giving them adequate time to sink or swim....and because JTC111 will not agree...lol

That would be further indication of Ross' inability to run a successful football franchise. He stayed with Ireland way too long, so I wouldn't be surprised in the least if he made the same mistake with Philbin or Hickey or both.

How about this. Is Tannehill on the hot seat? You know ultimately who wanted him? Philbin. A QB and head coach are tied at the hip. If you think tannehill is on a hot seat then philbin is.

Three more years for Philbin come what may? No chance.

Less than 8 wins this year and Philbin is gone. Another last season collapse against average at best teams and Philbin is gone. Even another 8-8 season is going to cause Philbin's seat to combust, although he may survive another year despite it.

Let's not forget that was a Thad Lewis team Miami came out flat against.

I was excited when Philbin got hired. A qb guy from GB, and then we draft a QB. What pissed me off was the Sherman deal. If Philbin is such a QB guy why let Sherman run the show? It really seems he has no backbone. We kept Sprano for to long, and we will do it with him. I think he has this year and the following year.

Hickey with the two year deal seems a doomed prospect. The owner blundered through the hiring process. I just don't see him here long term.

Harbaugh takes a year off and we end up with him for better or worse.

Jim Harbaugh is the best coach in the NFL today and I don't think its too soon to talk about him as one of the all time greats. If you could custom design a head coach what more would you want? I like Philbin but signing Harbaugh would be like getting a Tom Brady in his prime.

I can't see any situation where we are 8-8 or worse and Philbin is retained for another year. I think he should have been shown the door already. In the biggest games of the year we looked the worst. To only score one TD in the last two weeks of the season playing two teams that didn't care what happened, and to look so flat is inexcusable.

To answer the OP's question I think will be decided by whomever we bring in. If the new coach wants the power to bring in someone he feels he can work with then I think there is a very good chance Hickey could be one and done. But if the new coach wants to work with Hickey then he stays.

Bottom line is if Philbin is going to have to be replaced at the end of the season (and he will), and Ross has his sights set on one certain big name talent that he thinks he can get, you can bet your behind that Hickey won't stand in the way of bringing that guy to Miami.

Harbough = Rex Ryan

Harbough inherited that team and especially the 49ers defense and offensive line. He has brought no one on board since his take over with the possible exception of Eric Reid (1st rd, '13) and only benefited from 2011's draft position which yielded the 7th overall pick in Aldon Smith (:loco:) and will pay (and already has) for choosing Crapernick as his starting QB.


But then again, he did turn his "cousin" into a QB :rimshot:

We already have. No way on earth Philbin should still be here after he totally lost the team with the season on the line last year. This is already going to take a miracle for him to turn it around. He just has a way about him that seems underhanded to me. He seems to be the type that would rather manipulate someone into doing what he wants rather than discussing it man to man.

If the team starts off like they finished last season, and Lazor seems to be up for the job, I could see a situation where Philbin gets canned midseason and Lazor handed the keys. Watch and see, this team will not respond well to Philbin this year.
