Our DT's are a joke and we're in a division that has 3 Pro Bowl caliber RB's in Martin, Dillon and McGahee! With the exception of Madison our entire secondary is suspect and our LB's (Thomas and Seau) are ageing.
We drafted 3 very nice players in Roth, Crowder and Daniels but lets not forget that their rooks! Does anyone honestly expect us to finish in the top 10 with 3 rookies expected to consistentley contribute and question marks at both DT positions and in the entire secondary?
Miami have plenty of talent on the D-End (Taylor, Holliday,Carter, Roth) better then last year at DT with the addition of Traylor, and considering we will be playing some 3-4 D, most of the talent comes from LB.
Consider this in a 3-4........
......Holliday.......Traylor..........Carter
Roth.........Seau.........Thomas.........Taylor
but we do still need one more huge player for the 4-3 Defense, Chester is not coming back, and if he does, he will not be even close power wise that once made him the strongest man in football.
As for DB, Madison is still an above average Corner (Maybe no longer great), and Daniels could be solid on the other side as he gets better. Few teams have even one good Corner, we have one, and another that at least knows his role better then the normal rookie.
My biggest problem is safety, not exactly sold with the guys we have to this point, other then Bell (Still think he could be an amazing player for us), but with all his injury problems, it makes it very tough to count on him.
Considering what kind of a pressure defense we will be playing, Miami's DB will not be need to much time to cover a receiver, they just need to be disciplined, and play smart.
This is not that bad of defense, and Miami will have another DT and Safety soon, so If anyone is think of this defense as being the same as last year, get ready for a surprise.
