Is Pouncey still at risk for suspension from bullygate?

Goodell:
The bottom line is everything is proceeding and they are doing everything they have been asked to do. We will make individual decisions, if necessary, with any one of those individuals.”...

“I would say the one person that has been very responsive and gone through the program is Richie Incognito,” Goodell said. “We are working with his people and monitoring his progress and it’s gone well.”
"They are doing everything...", but then Incognito is "the one" who is doing what he was asked? Pouncey also publicly declared he was not going to do the program, I believe. Goodell is spinning the whole incident and my guess is that it is to minimize risk of getting sued by Martin's camp. A suspension is an admission of wrongdoing and Goodell is trying to stay away from that. But it's funny to watch him contradict himself. I guess his lack of morals benefits our players / former players this time, but I still don't believe it is right.

After the Ray Rice disgrace, I don't think Goodell would be too keen to risk more censure for inconsistency by imposing any punishment for what turned out to be a mutual cluster **** nor to revisit any more attention regarding this episode.

Roger set himself up for failure when he made spygate magically go away.

They aren't giving Irsay a free ride he checked himself into rehab, he made an effort. The league has told Pouncey he needs to complete counseling it is their league their rules. It is not a right to be an NFL player it is a privilege! The sooner Pouncey understands that the better a player, teammate, and a human being he will become!

Plenty of organizations/employers have a code of conduct that if violated can result in suspension. More people need to be concerned about Pouncey and his defiant attitude it shows he won't grow up and change. Look at Don Jones he was ordered counseling he immediately completed it and came back to work a better man!

Point taken on Don Jones although this was an overreaction to the Martin-created tempest in a teapot.

But given that, it's even more of a privilege to be an owner in the league as evidenced by the vetting processes and votes required to purchase a franchise. The fact that Irsay has been tweeting obviously drunk or stoned for years underscores that Goodell looks the other way instead of choosing to be proactive. And don't forget that Irsay is an owner because he inherited the team from his father, one of the most hated men in Baltimore and for good reason. AFAIC, his birthright gives him no free ride. As a matter of fact it should put more onus on him to comply with an elevated standard of conduct.

And as far as his self-imposed "rehab," what a ****ing joke. For someone who's been demonstrating behavior reflective of substance(s) abuse for years, a 2-4 week stay for show in the equivalent of an expensive 5 star resort - and then being allowed to attend the owners' meeting would be just laughable - if not so pitiful.

Long way of saying that he deserves no more favorable consideration than Pouncey who on the basis of one tweet may or may not have provided drugs as host in his home - (and I don't get where the assumptive "selling" aspect comes in, cuz when I've been served alcohol or passed a doobie as a guest at someone's get-together, no one's ever asked me to pay my own way) or what Rice should have received. As a matter of fact, Pouncey has never been arrested (as Rice has) nor arrested & charged (as Irsay has) of any criminal crime, so using that as a benchmark, ain't no way is he deserving of even close to the punishment that would be appropriately meted out to Irsay.

So what do you want the league to do order Irsay to attend rehab again? Would that make you feel better? Bottom line is we have 3 people here. Persons A and B made an effort to correct their actions, while Person C thumbs his nose at authority and continues to find himself in situations that are bizarre to say the least. If Person C was a Jet or Patriot you would be outraged!

oh great, another Pouncey bashing thread. Did he stay out past somebody's bedtime again?

North when did Pouncey say he wasn't going to do the program? I saw the article in May where he said he didn't think he needed to see a shrink and that he was waiting to hear from the league concerning the issue. Did I miss something?

yes, at least 3 months in a rehab with the rehab director's report to the NFL that based on their empirical experiences, Irsay is actually rehabbed, a heavy heavy fine, suspension for 1 year from having anything to do with the Colts and possibly the loss of a mid level draft pick. Asked and answered. Again, Pouncey has not been arrested, charged or convicted of anything unlike Rice and Irsay. That's an easy concept to understand isn't it?

Pouncey should not be suspended for the implications of the text, its just doesn't bode well for the person that we have as our starting center. The text makes it sound like there is no more likely play to find drugs than at Pouncey's. The dolphins should defiately have a conversation with Pouncey about it and make sure that he knows they don't tolerate this behavior but a suspension based on a text is absurd.

Pouncey hasn't been fined or suspended yet, but he is working on it because he is not in compliance. So to recap initially he was not suspended he was told to undergo counseling/sensitivity training before being allowed to participate in the coming NFL season those actions may lead to a suspension. That is pretty easy to understand isn't it? No one at fault here, but Mike. Shouldn't you be more outraged that Pouncey is willing to risk a suspension for noncompliance then sitting on a couch for a few hours? But hey that's just Mike being Mike! But your logic makes sense because Irsay wasn't punished enough Pouncey should be ignored.

It's only non-compliance if he was ordered to seek psychiatric evaluation and he refused. That doesn't seem to be the case. So far, all we know is that when asked a question about possible suspensions at the owner's meeting, Goodell said that medical professionals would evaluate Pouncey and Jerry to determine if any action needs to be taken. It was a comment made during a presser when the NFL's culture was being scrutinized publicly. It was the right thing to say from an NFL PR standpoint. A few months later when the Giants signed John Jerry, they received word from the NFL that no suspension was looming. John Jerry also said in an interview 2 weeks ago that he hasn't been told to undergo a psychological evaluation. It looks like Goodell has never actually officially informed Pouncey or Jerry that they must undergo a psychological evaluation. Maybe the NFLPA objected to the psychological evaluation of players, or maybe the evaluation was being done remotely based on testimony given to Ted Wells, but it doesn't sound like Pouncey or Jerry are being non-compliant. I think your outrage over non-compliance is premature.

I am not outraged I expect Pouncey to always do the wrong thing. It is well documented Pouncey was told to be evaluated and it is known he has no done so regardless of how you spin it.

Link please. As far as I know, Goodell only mentioned it at an owner's meeting presser, and the media ran with it. Jerry said he was never told about needing an evaluation, and if Pouncey was told I am sure the Miami front office would make him comply.

That quote was from ten weeks ago, doesn't mean he hasn't done the evaluation since and he never said he wasn't going to do it... just that he didn't think he needed it. A lot of people say they don't think they need to go to AA or anger management but still go if court ordered. There's a big difference between "I don't think I need to go." and "I won't go."

DAVIE, Fla. -- Miami Dolphins Pro Bowl center Mike Pouncey said Tuesday he hasn't fulfilled the NFL's requirement to see a medical professional for psychological testing before he returns to the field and that he's against the idea altogether.

Yep, they said Pouncey needs to undergo an evaluation based off of what Goodell said during a presser at the annual owners meeting. But There still has been no official word given to Pouncey, Jerry, or the Dolphins requiring Pouncey to undergo an evaluation. All we have seen is the media reiterate what Goodell said during a presser. I still doubt that Pouncey and Jerry were told that they needed to be evaluated. Jerry has denied it already.
